Ok I love woman and dont go SJW on me but does CK2 really needs a status of woman realm law status, for the era? Feels alien to me. What you guys think? Needed or could have been spot for something more authentic?
The only alien thing is the word "status". It implies that women's status was somehow lower, which was not the case, if we speak of e.g. feudal Europe. There were differences between the genders, for example when it comes to landholding, but their status as in "dignity", "respected" or "human value" was certainly fully equal. Just as an example, there are clear historical records of cases where e.g. men acted against their wife's interests or wishes, whether it was selling/granting land without her permit or abusing her dowry. These were taken care of in court cases and the woman's husband-lord were convicted and fined, regardless of how high title rank they had. There were even customs of life-long income support to the wife by the husband (to be upheld even after his death). All of those things naturally varied by geographic region, social class, etc.
If by status on the other hand we mean "legal rights of women are equal to men", then of course the status was lower/different for women in some regards (e.g. the husband would usually hold her land and be her lord, but then you also have those restrictions from the wife and her consent). But then again, legal rights were lower long after the middle ages too. As an example you can take women's right to vote in general elections (20th century).
So yes, the word "status" is confusing. Women did not have lower status, only different rights. Rights which by themselves were not necessarily invented in the middle ages either, but passed on culture and traditions from previous eras.. Maybe better would have been something like "chivalric customs", stuff that compensate (by males) rather than make rights equal (e.g. regards to inheritances and the use of things like half-dowers).
