Is there an event for the Statue of Liberty? France has an event for the Arc d'Triomphe, so I think it'd only be fair if say between 1886 and 1890 that if the United States is not at war with France and has at least +100 relations with them they gain 10 prestige via event or something to that extent.

There isn't an event for the Statue of Liberty in regular Victoria. Admittedly, it would have made a good flavor event. I think there should be certain political requirements for the event triggering in addition to what you stated (e.g. both countries should be democracies).

RIP has one. It adds I believe 5% to the life rating of New York City. That combined with it's starting life rating give's a total of like 60%. It's ends up being the highest province in the game, with a significant growth rate.

Which would actually be historically accurate.

I feel like an idiot. There it was right in front of me and I didn't see it, I blame John Molson.

I've not downloaded Rev. because of the whole capitalists can only build factories thing. Are my fears unfounded? Is it really that bad or not?

I don't think it's too bad, especially because capitalists really can build infrastructure quickly, if in a disorderly fashion. It also reduces micromanagement, for better or worse, and you can always choose a more authoritarian party if strict control appeals to you. It's the inability to convert foreign pops that gets me, but that doesn't bother most players. I'd say that the cons are more than outweighed by the pros.

Note that the restriction to all building to capitalists is only if you have a laissez-faire government. With interventionist governments you can build railways and expand factories (but not build new factories) while with state capitalism you can build rail and factory as well as capitalists (though more expensive for capitalists than under laissez-faire) and under command economy you do all the building.

So it isn't a total prevention for building factories, it just requires players to manipulate political developments if they want to ensure they never lose control completely.

Unfortunately this is the part of the game I am the worst at. But it looks like I'll give it a try. For $10 if I don't like it I'll just uninstall it.
