Hiya, I started a bit earlier today and I'll gladly admit that I have not yet gotten a hold of all aspects of the game. What strikes me though is actually the importance of a little thing such as diplomacy, a stat which I can't seem to be able to affect.

My question is then, can I affect it? Do I send more hostages, pay more bribes/tribute, take my wife into town some more?

Also I am struck at the effects of honour - seems to be a probem when I have too little and when I got 'too' much I can't seem to spend it quick enough (without leaving myself open to backstabbers and other major clans). Am I doing something wrong, missing something obvious or should I just be grateful and stop whining?

(I look around for the stat issue before posting this and found none, the honour... somewhat more common, but it seems most was from an ealier patch?)

Your base stats are not changeable, however at times events will allow you to passively modify your stats, for example an event could make your leader a cripple, or maybe give you the choice to give him the 'content' trait, these traits will enact stat modifiers. This is the only way of altering your character's stats, furthermore there is no way (that I know of) to directly cause any such events to occur.

Regarding honour, in times of excessive peace it is easy to end up with quite a lot of it, however I tend to find plenty of uses for it, it's just a question of learning how to balance your actions effectively.

I've found that when one of your courtiers gets an ambition to become a specific Minister, that you can appoint them to that Minister position for a day and they will get the +1 to the trait favored by that position.

I try to make sure all my clan leader's son's amibitions are fulfilled in this way so that they're getting those little +1s whenever possible. I also check some of the other courtiers for it, too, especially younger ones I'll possibly need to use in just such a position in the future.

It's a real pain in the butt to go through a big list of courtiers, to check which ones have which ambitions, without having a window history & accompanying 'Back' button feature. So I continually hit F3 (Clan window) to start from the top of the list again and try to remember which was the last one I had checked the character sheet on, and go to the next.. then start over from F3 again.
