Short answer, no, not really, at least not in vanilla HoI2. In Arm AA do more damage, but they still suffer from the problem that they are a fixed defense, and thus will only be useful in one province, regardless of whether the front line is there or 1000 miles away. You're better off building additional Int or Ftr divisions than static AA, unless you know for sure that the province you will be building them in will be under continual air attack for a very long time.

As Germany, it's very easy to win the Battle of Britain. Just bomb down their airbases while your fighters clear the skies, and the British planes will stay grounded for a while. Once you gain air superiority, bomb the infrastructure down as low as you can, and the airbases will take forever to repair and enemy aircraft will take forever to reorg. You just have to have sufficient numbers of planes, probably aim for 12-14 tacs, and 20-24 ftr/int and it should be a cakewalk.

I like to build them, especially on important naval bases and huge industrial bases. I would say if you don't as Germany build lots of them in your most important naval bases you won't have navy after one month of war against Brits..

It depends. As Ericus said, in vanilla they're mostly a waste of resources, but in many mods they are many times more deadly (up to the point of obliterating whole airfleets in a matter of hours).

which is probably more realistic (if the he guy aiming is not to drunk) but I agree in Vanilla its a waste of IC, Build Int or Fighters(maybe) but that lead's on to another very discussed question

Stacking AA is very useful in provinces with high IC - you might actually want to decide to only build IC in a handful of provinces instead of spreading it out, this way you can build 10 AA instead of having to devote fighters and interceptors to patrolling home territories.

What a lot of people don't realize, and this is the most important fact: AA does literally NOTHING to planes flying over your territory, it only damages bombers doing strat or logistical bombing - it is NOT an alternative to air superiority.

What even more people don't realise, is that it does fire at planes flying over. However, this will only become apparent with higher levels and more effective AA. :)

I built them to make my country feel like a fortress.

Plus, they do deal SOME damage to planes, better then nothing. Level 10 AA in every province is overkill :D
