Starting new game glitch

When starting a new game on any map, for some reason all of the roads and highways turn blue and I am unable to see any houses, buildings, windmills, or anything that gets built (including trees) unless I zoom out to almost a full city view. It leaves me completely unable to see what I'm building and the roads a bright blue color. I have tried multiple different maps and map themes but the problem arise every time. Anyone else having the same problem or have an explanation? The attached picture is from a random new map showing the issue with the blue colored roads, I did not take a picture including the invisible building problem.

Not surprised, there's a lot of things which cause holes in maps - I didn't expect roads to be one though but I guess they do.

My only advise, if this happens on all new maps, is to reinstall the game and delete all progress - not ideal but when you buy a broken game I guess you need to expect to have to start over often.
