You kick his ass in war. Lots of loans, and sometimes going over the force limit might be necessary. At least it was necessary an hour ago when i was playing Naples.
Edit: Or you can take the long route, and try to lower your relationship with the senior country below 0, and i think you might break free when the king dies.
A lot of EU3 answers here You actually have a shiny new CB to use that will create an independence war against Denmark, where the wargoal is to defend your capital (it's the only cb that gives the attacker the control of the wargoal). Good luck losing the shackles of Danish oppression
But what you can do is to build a fleet and blockade them so they can't get to mainland Sweden - you then quickly mop up Norway and hopefully by then you'll have a good enough warscore to bring the war to an end.
Getting that fleet in place took me a dozen or so years.
TLDR: Blockade Denmark so they can't get to you with their big ass army

Wait for the inevitable war against the Hansa, then swoop down at them. Norway becomes collateral damage as usual but they can't really do much if you send a doomstack their way as your first action. Then move to Skåne and guard the sound, their fleet wont help them in this situation.
I built up an big treasury, when to military tech level 4, took the first idea of the Quality Idea Group (+10% in infantry combat ability) so I was sure about having a stronger army than Denmark. Then I amassed Mercenaries. Bought all which was available. So I was like 14 over my forcelimit, but won the war. And now I'm independent HUGE debt tho, but I will atleast enjoy my freedom.
Good to know.. I've noticed that alot of the old EU3 tactics don't work as well as they used too...
As England letting Normandy Calais and the rest go and letting burgundy and france fight it out turned it into a super france which rightly invaded and kicked my arse.
As in all things in life: Never fight fair unless you absolutely have to.
Wait until they've finished an especially destructive war, in which you have been idling. Perhaps having some popcorn or sending your troops on pointless maneuvers in Småland.
With a full manpower pool against their depleted one, victory - while never certain - should follow.
Goat the Danish into taking their king with them when they eventually try to conquer Lübeck or Hamburg, that´s at least how it worked in my game; It seems that not even Denmark can take on Castille,England,Austria and The Hansa
Good luck in getting a bigger navy then the Danes, they seem to love having at least a 18 fleet(mostly consisting of light ships); now a Swedish Galley fleet....
Had my army of some 20.000 men power through Skåne and Sjaelland. After I was in control of those the danish was more than happy to grant me my freedom.
