I added Strategist (check thread starter). Dominus I’m glad to here you survived your harrowing experience with those “vicious bandits”, we truly missed ya last session.

New Rule Added

  • If a war starts and allies are called, where any ally that was a player country but that player is not present and their country is AI’d, it is ok to call on them to join.

What this means is, if you join an alliance with other players, but fail to show up for a game, then you are obligated by default to come to their aid if they are attacked or if they start a war. If you have stipulations concerning what countries you don’t want to fight if war breaks out, Victoria provides that in its diplomacy. Consider your alliances carefully, this is a good opportunity to check your alliances and make sure their what you want, even with AI’d countries.

Here are some examples, they are just examples and not meant to indicate any political standing of current player countries.
  • Sweden and France are allied player countries. France is absent and their country AI’d. Sweden declares war on Sardinia-Piedmont, France could be called to assist their ally and fight against Sardinia-Piedmont.
  • Same countries Sweden and France. France is once again absent and their country AI’d. Denmark an AI non-player country declares war on Sweden, France could be called to assist in the defense of Sweden.
  • France and Sweden both have an alliance with Switzerland, an AI’d non-player country. France the ever delinquent player is absent once again. Switzerland declares war on Austria, Sweden declines to honor the alliance and refuses to join the war. AI’d France honors the alliance and is now at war with Austria.

Ok so there ya have it. The new rule and some good explanations on how it applies. Please feel free to discuss this and any rule we have so far.

OK folks,

It's game day and I should have asked this already. How many players do we have. The reason I'm askin is Lotus Lo has brought up a good point. We need to make sure the majors are covered.

Please if you are a regular player, let us know now if you can't make it. If you are new, let us know if you want to join. We do not meet in Vnet, we use ICQ to set up the game at connect through direct IP.

Also, I have upgraded to v1.03b. Please make sure you have the latest patch installed. I look forward to the game this afternoon. Hope to see you all there and maybe some new folks also.

I noticed something bizarre with the Greek Pops before the game crashed. This was the total absence of Greek aristocrats in Thessaloniki. In the 1836 and 1861 campaigns, even in 1.03B, there are always aristocrat POPs in this territory. Anyone have any idea why these POPs would be missing? Thats a good deal of income, and prestige having aristos of course, that are missing.

Weekly Game Update:

Today we didn't get very far, but what a game. The players were:
  • King of Men - Sweden
  • Lotus Lo - Prussia
  • Dominus - France
  • RCBricker - Russia
  • Anglo-American - Spain
  • LordDrake22 - Netherlands
  • Traveler - Sardinia-Piedmont
We had two new players:
  • CoolElephant - Austria
  • GabeHimself - Greece
Which brought our total to 9 players. We had to change the game speed to Very Slow, to keep the game from being too laggy, due to all the players.

We played from Feb 1st 1852 to Nov 2nd 1854. There was a major war involving most of the players, but I wont say much more so I wont ruin the AAR's. Very good game, with a very good crew of players. Look forward to the AAR's and Diplomacy. See ya'll next weekend.

hey, my name is matt, i'm wantin to try this out, and got ICQ (which i irrationally hate) just to play with youse guys, so i guess i'll start in next week, if you'll have me, i'm up for any number of countries, including china, japan, US, or south americans, or, i guess, a european. HAHAHA. i've been playin a lot as china lately, that's the only reason i bring that up, just let me know, my ICQ is apparently 203-594-639. Gimme a country and watch me run it into the ground. or watch it take you all over. Prolly neither of those.

Lads,

I have to aplogize, and will have to drop from the game. :( I am sorry for this, you are a great group, and I had much fun playing. I received a promotion at work, and some home front issues limit me to two MP games a week. I selected the two that I've been with longest (both happen to be EU2.)

The popularity of the thread seems to indicate you won't have trouble replacing me. :D You've all been great, and I hope to play Vic MP with you once again when life settles down.
