That game is a very different game than MoO 2 and MoO 3.

Also I never got exposed to MoO 2 until I brought and liked MoO 3 and went back to MoO 2 later. So despite the rough edge of vanilla MoO 3 version it got better with 1.2.5 version and mod that fixed many outstanding issues.

Which is why I don't buy the whole MoO 3 is terrible mindset. It is a very different game than MoO 2 I will grant that much.

If you don't know where to get MoO 3. it is USA $10 on good old games.

I find starts like that, where you are cut off from everyone in your cluster, to be a mix blessing.

On one hand, yes you get to devote all your income to expansion and research and not bother at all about military beyond 3-4 more corvettes for the pirate event (at least until the only places left are the ones that have hostile space aliens).

On the other, you miss out on early diplomacy opportunities, such as getting everyone united against he advanced start to take them out, or befriending said advanced start so you can conquer your neighbors with little risk of a surprise war after a costly battle. Plus it can be surprising just how much debris salvage can speed up military research, especially if you're trying to fill in holes so you can get to things like torpedoes and arc emitters.

TBH, I wish they would make Sol spawn at the right place in the galaxy.

That seems more like a Leviathans-sized DLC, get a Milky-Way galaxy with all the non-fictitious stars all in their proper-ish place (ish because if it were to accurate distance scale I'm pretty sure Alpha Centari et al that spawn when you have Sol as your starting system would be practically on top of each other.) Maybe take it a step further, and have a Grand Strategy/Star Trek New Horizons Mod scenario attached to it as well that you could play.

A dead end in some esoteric web of FTL lanes that can never lead anywhere else and that has as such been neglected by space farers in lieu for scouting and occupying more vital crossroads instead. It would be funny if we could have a game where you then ventured forth and everybody was all astonished that this little dead end actually harbored the cradle of an intelligent species. :D

Actually, best as we can figure we're In a smaller arm called the Orion Arm or Orion Spur that' in between the two main arms of stars in the Milky Way.

You know how sometimes the map generator will put an odd star right in the middle of the empty space between the arms in a Spiral galaxy? that's basically where we'd be in an accurate map of the Milky Way.

Okay, I checked it. Fusion is not required, but it has a incredibly high weight. 285 with Particle Specialist, wich gives it a 20% draw chance. So for all purpose as long as you do not finish it, one techcard will turn up Fusion Power every other draw.

I'd take an isolated start like that any day over what happened to me twice in a row: starting next to a Miltantly Isolationist Fallen Empire. Plant my first colony, and they send me a message demanding that I abandon it. I say no, and they curbstomped me. Second game I had a start like that, I just abandoned the game.

I know you said you wont, but I always just re-roll until Im as close to the center of the galaxy as possible. One game takes many hours, I make sure to re-roll until I've found at least a reasonable start

I actually dislike starting near the center of the galaxy, it's easy getting boxed in. I like starting in the middle to last third of a spiral arm, although never at the tip, the system densite gets way too low there.

Well, an isolated start does not give you any advantages that I could find. Once I research an updated engine and started meeting the other denizens of my galaxy, I found about a third of them were superior in either fleet size or tech or both. The worse thing ever was losing my defensive pacts without any notification that I remember, but I definitely became aware when my neighbor xenophobe determined it was safe to wipe me from the universe.

I've started a new game. I like a challenge, but this one will only result in my slow, agonizing removal from the galaxy.:D

Played a game like this last night, once I got cruisers and warp II, I left my pocket of civilisation and managed to make a tributary of the nearby 8 system empire. Needless to say, I have a -83 relationship modifier for relative strength of subject... But now my mineral and energy input is very healthy.
