1. The manual says you can randomly select what country you play. If I hit the dice, it only randomly selects AI characters. If I select one country to play as and hit the dice, it still leaves me as the country I selected and randomizes the AI countries. Is there a way to randomly select who I'll play as. Rolling the dice doesn't seem to work.

2. The manual says you can, in addition to chosing the game level difficulty, select each AI country's difficulty level. How do I do this?

3. Is there a way to take screenies?

1) Well, you can play any country randomly, in the sense that you can randomly pick any country. I do not believe the computer will pick a country for you.

2)As far as I know, the only way to affect the AI of a specific country is to change the AI associated with it (Lion, Tiger, etc). Some of the AI's are more aggressive than others, but not necessarily more "difficult". The difficulty level affects all the AI's.

Just in case, to change the type of AI for a country, click on the animal name under the country and then play with the "Select AI" arrows. There is a short description for each AI.

3) On any game/application, you can hit the Print Scrn button (usually upper right) and capture the screen to the clipboard(memory). Once there you can open mspaint or some other graphic program and paste(Ctrl-v) the image. You can also paste it into most editable documents, but I like to put it in to paint first so I can cut out the images I actually want to see.

Throwing a dice yourself, you mean? :D

Then that statement in the manual makes no sense, I wonder... There must be a way.

That's simple: take a seven-sided dice and roll it yourself, then choose the country accordingly. :p

I've got 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, and 100-sided dice, but never heard about 7-sided ones :D

Random of 7 choices

Take a deck of cards and strip out all the Aces to Sevens. Then shuffle, cut and draw one card. Numbers should be assigned to the 7 Diplomacy countries first.

A better way is to use the RND function in Excel with 7 as the upper limit.

No 30-sided? Amateur ;).

Anyhoo, it won't be the first, nor the last, time a manual has differed from the real game.

A 100-sided dice must be huge! It probably weighs a lot too. You could end up with a dice(y) hand playing with it too much.....
