I can't click on anything on the Cities Skylines window/screen, I cant turn the music off, quit the program or anything.

Basically I have to kill the process manually to get my PC back.

I've had to disable one of my monitors to get the game running.

But I am not at all happy with that as a solution.

Yes, I found out that it is running when you disable one monitor.
And you are totally right, this is not good.

I have seen similar problems with other games under linux and multimonitor view.

And I'm sure that CO had a startparameter for us that we can use on the steam startpage! ;-)

I have it too, a way to start in windowed mode would work.

Edit: Disableing one screen, setting it to windowed mode and re-enableing the other screen seems to work.

  • Please try and right-click on the game in your library, go into Properties and uncheck the box "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game". This has been reported to solve this issue.

Then try verifying the integrity of your game cache.

How to verify the cache:
  • Load Steam
  • From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
  • Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
  • Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
  • Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

  • Also restart Steam after you've done this and start the game again

Disableing one screen, setting it to windowed mode and re-enableing the other screen seems to work.
Works for me too, allows me to play with both screens enabled, but I do now have to live with a little screen space devoted to the Window chrome rather than the game, but hey ho.

Same problem, had to start the game while only one monitor was enabled,
then changed to window mode, which also works in multi monitor mode.

You might want to start at ".config/unity3d/Colossal Order/Cities: Skylines/prefs",
which had the resolution of all monitors combined set.

I had the same problem, but only the first time I booted up the game. Even though the graphics are in the far right, the buttons all responded in the middle of the screen so I was actually able to open up the options menu. I was able to more or less blindly move my mouse around the buttons to see where they "really" are on the screen, and I managed to click "apply" on some random resultion, which reset the screen and put the game back in proper fullscreen mode. Then I just had to change the settings to how I wanted them, and I haven't been able to recreate this error since then.
