Who would be interested in a start date that is before 1890? And how early would you be interested in? I understand its going into Victoria area but I honestly believe that with the decisions and such of DH it would work just as well.

Medieval, or Ancient Era. :D

Well, I was thinking I could do Ancient era to modern day with bookmarks... Just need alot more people to help with it and someone to help me understand how to do events/techs/etc properly so we dont do CTDs, and it would take along time to do it right. Maybe even do different humanoid species, I have enough research to do all that due to my own projects but I could do a mod with DH that does the same I believe due to the event setup and like. Just getting the resources already present to function properly and maybe adding a food resource(havent looked into if I can add any resources).

I originally was thinking maybe 1400s/medeval era start date to right around 1995 or so. multiple bookmarks and the like. Events would unlock provinces and allow for new cores/etc...

Edit: would need alot of people interested in helping with it and doing proper plausible/historical research to make it more immersive and fun. I know I am a sticklier for the facts/plausiblity side but its just something that I would be interested in seeing... I dont know how all would be truly invested in it.

Edit 2: you can pm me and we could discuss it farther there, and add anyone else that is interested to allow them to see what is being thought at this time.

Making a mod until 1995 would not be preferable, because there is a lot of mods covering that period already. Moving before the 19th century would be interesting. I'll help you out too if you need anything. I think first you should only concentrate on one start date, and around 10-20 years of history, with its alternate choices. Again I will write, that if someone is writing alternate event chains things could go very different very fast, so it would be good to have some step-stones. Even writing these chains beyond 50 years would be a large task. I hope you will have a great mod, but in my opinion you should drop the modern times for now, and focus on the unflashed historical times in DH.

Honestly I havent viewed many mods for DH... I am debating doing a 1400 mod or 1775. either way it will be built eventually into later periods but start date maybe ealier or later. Event Chains for the mod will be interesting to do, especially a 1775 mod... :D (bit Americanist here no offense to anyone) For the USA to gain Canada in the War of Independence and then later take the caribean from England and France in 1812 :~ Seems like an interesting event chain...

@Khor, I should say Earliest date I am looking at is 1400 and eventually going to modern days... IF it all works out that is and people are interested in it. I have also other ideas for other mods but truthfully those ideas require a different game to better model them.

Because you don't need to invent a colonization, there are some colonies already, and there is not so much of a change in colonies. A few here and there. Europeans are already everywhere, and there are some great events (from a historical perspective) like: Sengoku, Ottoman conquests, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Thirty Years War and so on. 1400 would also be great, and I would really prefer that, but it would be a harder task, with much more work, so maybe that too should be added later, when you feel more comfortable in modding DH.

Country tags may be a limitation for your mod...renaming may help.

Renaming would come with the mod game, also with events and the like there would have to be death events for certain countries and others created with "birth " events... Such as the Confederated States of America, Colonial American Government, USA, etc as examples...

Already have in mind ways to do colonization within limits of the engine, Just hope it works out. Also was given permission from another modder to use their work as a base to build upon. I also know that I may have to do alot of work to get this mod up and running correctly. It may take me years to get it to an alpha stage with my own projects but it will help maybe with my own.

Are you still up to helping with a 1650~ to 1700~ mod to get a base for later mods or would you rather do ~1400-1450? I like the idea of starting in 50 year stunts and getting those right before expanding even farther.

I dunno, DH engine and hard code might be a stretch to anything that goes before 1870, 1820 at the very, very earliest

There are always ways to do different things :D just alot of work needed
