This looks like a pretty awesome mod-in-the-making, and I would definitely be interested in helping out.

I personally would want one of two start dates, depending on which facet of Stellaris seems most awesome. If the exploration-expansion side of it is the best part, looking at the early period of Star Wars would be (IMO) the best way to go, around the Pre-Republic era. However if we get a really involved diplomatic and event-driven game, then going post-rebellion would be my preference. Along the lines of srd5090's event chains would be a great idea, though not the most replayable. I reckon the scale of the game would counteract the exact extent of the 'power creep' EU characters had during this era.

The mod should probably avoid any era where the Republic is too strong though, as it would involve forcing interactions with the Republic as an entity and a diplomatic framework, which could be awkward to work if the base game doesn't support the concept, in a period that is defined by it. Even with the HRE and 'Faction' mechanics in other Paradox games, they have never seemed to build a particularly robust system along those lines.

venators? fighter spamming? what are you new to this!? lucrehulk battleships were the most OP ships until the super star destroyers. tons of armor, huge armament, insane shields, 500+ X-wing size fighters could easily be accommodated. they have been treated pretty bad by the star wars universe considering just how absurdly powerful they were during the clone wars! #triggered:p

ranting aside, i do like the look of the venators, and that they can operate in-atmosphere is pretty impressive.

Ill jsut ram my Venators into yopur lucrehulks like Anakin did. Then you won't have ships to fight with, and your command would be in total disarray hehe :'P

Sorry for the late reply guys. I will be posting up a dev diary soon showing the planned galaxy map in its entirety, along with an explanation of it.
@Vercerotix
With any luck there will be an event system much like what is in any Clausewitz game currently. So worse comes to worse we will be representing the force through a number of special events and possibly effects (depending on your populations feeling towards force users and you government policy toward it.) It is really still dependent on what more information we receive.

@bengast
Thanks for pointing out Dromund, no idea how we missed that. You should see it in the next diary. Taris is already on our map, you will also see that in the next diary. Thanks again for pointing that out.

@ShadowNinja909
Thanks for the link, makes finding system sectors much more easier. Wished you linked it earlier XD. That person's inspiration for making that map online was the same inspiration I had when I first made my version of the map. That's cool, :D

@Cuthuthulu
There is a 1000 star limit max in the stellaris game (to my knowledge). Currently, we have reached about 695 systems that we want to include in the first iteration of the map. I know this isn't exactly what you asked but I hope it is helpful.

@Santander
Thanks for that reply and completely true, though for the sake of convenience we have included kamino on our map.

@RisingSun
I love star trek as well and can't wait to see a mod for it as well. I also love star wars, both for different reasons XD

@Bevillia
Still intrested in helping?

@vyshan
Hopefully someone on the team or elsewhere will make this scenario post release of the mod

@Kuschelflummi
I would personally love a really early start date, like around the rise of the Rakata before the dominance of the human race and the republics foundation.

@aruon
Same, I loved that star wars mod for sins. The same people did an extensive mod for empire at war as well. So much fun, they really put there heart and soul into there mods.

Here it is, the galaxy map we have worked towards in this ore-modding stage. This map represents all the systems we wish to include in the first release of the mod but is of course subject to change before than. We have just under 625 star systems represented on this map and have chosen the systems we want to include based on the amount of information available on wookieepeida and other sources, it's strategic importance (IE on a hyperlane intersection), or if it is the homeworld of one of our accepted species list (more on this in the next dev diary).

The more observant of you may have noticed that chiss space, Ilum, and Hapes is not on the map. We have chosen to not include the unknown region (for now) in the initial release of our mod. Save from the chiss, the unknown region has very little to no information and when it does have that information the areas are sparse. For now the unknown region, will be as best simulated with events or its own mechanic. Illum is also in the unknown region and it's inclusion is not top priority at this time. Since Illum's location is only known by few people throughout the time span of the galaxy, and it also not populated, it makes more sense to represent it in a more abstract way.

Hapes, and the Hapes cluster, was not included because there is enough information on the region, as well as its isolation policy through most of the galactic timeline, to justify it having a more dedicated mechanics.

Questions, concerns, ideas, problems? Feel free to post away, the team is more than happy to read any/all comments on the map and systems of the star wars universe.

For those of you interested in checking out the PDF version of the map (Better for viewing the map zoomed in) you can download/view that here: DROPBOX DOWNLOAD LINK

Yeah, I'd still be interested in helping with what I could.

This is looking to be better with every Dev Diary, and I can see it being one of the more popular conversion mods for Stellaris, if not one of the most popular mods in general.

It is annoying that not everywhere will be represented to the fullest, but it is better that there be a more limited number of high-detail areas, than a thousand planets that are basically the same. It's not as if there is going to be any shortage of systems anyway, with over six hundred and counting.

The representation of the force should be interesting, it's a pity we don't know more about the exact mechanics of Stellaris to make a better prediction. Event chains would probably be the best method, unless there could be a 'Force-Sensitivity' variable on characters. with higher numbers meaning better outcomes. You could even go as far as to outright call it 'Midi-Chlorian count'.

Looking forward to more updates.

'Cause you know it's gonna happen
Well with Stellaris more than likely coming out towards the end of the year/start of next year, I wanted to start organizing people who are interested in creating a star wars mod. Basically we have heaps of time now to do some research and speculative modding. As the dev diaries come out we can speculate further on how we can use the different mechanics of the game for the mod. Once the game is released then all our time of research comes into play.

I also see heaps of room for player created items. The unknown regions is quite empty and lacking detailed information. Heaps of room in the universe for more items.

So, who's interested? Skype communication preferred but not necessary.

ysNdtF4.png
Pre-Republic era (36,453 BBY): Three Galactic Empires rule in the Galaxy's outer rim worlds, The Gree Empire, The Hutt Empire, and (arguably the strongest) The Infinite Empire. Other smaller species have also invented interstellar travel. This era is noted as a dominating period for non-human species, as it was before the humans developed interstellar travel. Human natives of Coruscant begin to send out sub-light sleeper ships which spread the human race throughout the galaxy.
Expansionist Era (25,053 BBY): Corellian Scientists reverse engineer the Infinite Empire's hyperdrive system marking the beginning of humans on a galactic stage. The foundation of the Galactic republic with many core worlds joining together as well as expansion of the core world species. The first Great schism occurs within the jedi order marking the beginning of jedi using the dark side. War between the Galactic Republic and the Tion Cluster breaks out.
Great Manifest Period (20,000 BBY): A Great Era of expansion for the Galactic Republic which also saw new friction being created between the Capital planet Coruscant and the Alsakan Colonists. Conflict breaks out between the two worlds which is only ended when a Corellian Prince dictates a peace treaty to both worlds on the senate floor at sword point. The Herglic Trade Empire comes into contact with the Galactic Republic.
The Indecta Era (17,018 BBY): An Alaskan led group of world attempts to block the Grand Companies' colonial expansions. The Galactic Republic officially backs the Grand Companies. This leads to a series of intermittent internal conflicts known as the "Alsakan Conflicts" which would not be resolved until the next era.
Kymoodon Era (15,000BBY): Founding of many of the most notable starship manufacturers and a second great boom in Galactic Republic Expansion. This era marked space travel as becoming more commonplace for the average person. The combination of Hutt slave raids on republic colonies and the ongoing Alsakan Conflicts would be the foundation for the Pius Dea Era.
Pius Dea Era (11, 987 BBY): The Contispex dynasty of Supreme Chouncellors rules over the Galactic Republic de facto controlled by the religious Pius Dea Fanatics. The Galactic Republic rolls back a previous trend of cultural integration in favour of a human centric outlook. Pius Dea Crusades take place against outlying alien culture, with refugees fleeing persecution into Hutt Space. The Alsakan conflicts turn into a civil war as Alsakan begins supporting non-human cultures against the Crusade efforts. The Pius Dea Civil War breaks out ending the Pius Dea Cult rule of the Galactic Republic.
Ductavis Era (10,966 BBY): The Galactic Republic begins to rebuild after the destruction brought about by the Pius Dea Crusades. The Alsakan Conflicts continue.
Rianitus Period (9,000 BBY): 275 year term of Blotus the Hutt, as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic.
Subterra Period (8,000 BBY): Rapid Expansion by the Galactic Republic breeds lawlessness and chaos to the outer rim with the Galactic Republic losing a number of colonies. This would lead to the Beginning of the 100 year Darkness and foundation of the sith.
Manderon Period (7,000 BBY): The 100 Year Darkness war takes place between the Dark Jedi and the Jedi Order, with the Galactic Republic assisting the Jedi Order. The Jedi Order comes out victorious however the conflict marks the beginning of the Sith Empire. Two new major trade routes are founded. The beginning of the Mandalorian Crusades.
Post-Manderon period (5,000 BBY): The period is marked by the beginning of the Great Hyperspace War, a war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. This lead to the destruction of the First Sith Empire with Nagow Shadow going into self-exile on yavin 4. The third Great schism occurs which would eventually lead to the Great Sith War and the Jedi Civil War.
Old Sith Wars (4,000 BBY): Marked by great conflict in the galaxy primarily involving the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order. The outcome of this period would be the Fragmentation of the Mandalorian Clans, Collapse of the Second Sith Empire, Collapse of the Brotherhood of the Sith, Dissolution of the Third Sith Empire, Devastation of the Jedi Order, Downfall of the Sith Triumvirate, and Absorption of the 4th Sith Empire into the Republic.
Inter-Sith Wars period (3,950 BBY): The 5th Sith Empire reveals itself to the republic, sparking the Great Galactic War. This ended when the Sith forced the Galactic Republic to sue for peace on favourable terms for the Sith Empire after the sith Empire infiltrated Coruscant and had the Chancellor killed. The peace would last 11 years in a cold war between the 2 galactic giants after which begun the Galactic War which is currently being covered by the KOTOR MMO.
Draggulch Period (2,000 BBY): The New Sith come out of hiding sparking the beginning of a 1000 year conflict known as the New Sith Wars. This conflict leads to the Republic Dark Age, a period in which the Republic was virtually non-existent. The Senate handed all of its powers over to the Supreme Chancellor, a jedi, and the Jedi Order effectively takes control of the remaining forces and areas of the Republic. The war is eventually won by the Jedi Order, with the outcome of the Final Collapse of the New Sith Empire, the Destruction of the Sith Brotherhood of Darkness, the formation of the Order of Sith Lords, and the Ruusan Reformation. The Ruusan Reformation restructures both the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. Most powers in the Republic are given to the Senate and the Jedi Order give up there para-military structure, becoming officially apart of the Republic in service to the Senate.
Fall of the Republic/Rise of the Empire era
Imperial Period
The Rebellion era
The New Republic era
The New Jedi Order era
The Legacy era

Things to decide:

    • Mod Start Date: (This would be the primary focus of the mod's first release. As time goes on there will, more than likely, be other starting scenarios, Rakata Empire is one that I can think of)
    • Canon or Legends: (Since Disney, in all there infinite wisdom, has decided to make much of the former canon universe no longer canon we must decide whether to go by Disney Canon or Lucas Legend information)
    • Name: (Not too important)
Ideas
  • Different start dates per Phase of game, exploration, exploitation, and extermination
Great idea and everything, I'm really hyped about it. I have a few question however:

A) How will you make the Sith Space. Ajunta Pall only get there by practical luck and force guidance, so the hyperlane should be really hard to find.
B) How will you hide the 5th Sith Empire as it remained unknown for so long?
C) Mandolorian Space should be really hard to conquer for an outside entity, and they should have a lot of military buffs, so how will they work?
D) Revan and Malak's Empire and the Star Forge, how will they be scripted?
E) Will Starkiller be in the mod or not?
F) How will you simulate the Vorn invasion tactics?
G) Will all geopolitical entities be therefore restricted to hyperlanes?
H) Exploration into Wild Space and the Unknown Regions was still going on during the Clone Wars and the Chiss Ascendency's exact location is unknown (as far as I know). How will that be simulated in the mod? I mean there's habitable planets and alien species there, but not much is known about the entire area... (never mind, read your post with the galactic map, but still curious what you have planned for it as to fully flesh it out)
I) Will the lore Bioware created in SWTOR be implemented (Eternal Empire)?

That's all the questions I have for now, and I thank you greatly for already mobilizing manpower for probably one of the most complex mods a game could replicate.
Good Luck in its realization!

Great idea and everything, I'm really hyped about it. I have a few question however...

A lot of stuff is, by virtue of the game this will be a mod of being still in development, stuff that even an educated guess would be very vague about.

With 'A', it would really depend on how the base game implements the specifics of the FTL travel. It may be possible to have the Hyperlane only appear by event, or might just be hard to find for a player.
'B' has a similar point, as we don't really know what kind of stuff the base game will allow, even with modding.
'C' could be represented by a variety of things, but would be a careful balance to prevent them from being over-powered. Again, it would depend on what the base game allows.
'D' again is base-game-reliant. The engine has traditionally used a specific style of event scripting, so it is likely through that. As for the specifics? That's still far away from the mod's current state.
'E' is the same point as 'D' in terms of how. Plus, it is important to look at the scope of this game. Even with a focus on individual leaders, it would be more likely for a player to control 'The Empire' in that event, than 'Starkiller'.
'F', I cannot remember anything about 'Vorn', and a quick Wiki search doesn't bring up anything. Are you talking about the 'Yuuzhan Vong'?
'G' would rely on the base game's specifics about FTL travel, but it is important to remember that the Hyperlanes are actually not 'Hyperlanes' in the sense that Stellaris is making them. Someone earlier in the thread made a good point about it if I remember.
'H' you seem to have answered yourself.
'I' would depend on the mod team.

(Disclaimer, I am not currently a member of the team, these are just my 'Common sense' answers, and I welcome any of the actual team to correct me on them)

are any going to be other FTL forms? because after trawling through the Gree on wookiepedia, and in addition to them basically being the "day 1" race of the star wars universe, i noticed that they constructed hypergates that mechanically are one in the same with stellaris wormhole FTL in addition to conventional hyperspace travel.

@GhostKiller01
Lots of question, I like it XP
A) Well we know that nebulaes are in the game and do effect space travel. So the first thing is placing the stygian nebulae field around sith space. As for other information of how we implement this, we will just have to wait for more information.
B) Barring any mehcanics that can be used for this, using an event chain would be most appropriate for this, to simulate there growth off map.
C) Depends on when the start date is. But I have no doubt we will be making a Mandalorian buff to represent the mandalorian culture.
D) More than likely through events.
E) So long as we do the start date where he exists and it is appropriate.
F) Do you mean vong? Again more than likely through event that places the species with a large military at the edge of the galaxy. Possibly this could happen at any time due to the fact that the Vong are a extra-galactic species.
G) I am just gonna say this now, no. At the very least, some speices, like the gree, use different travels than hyperlanes. Though a lot of the planets will more than likely be using the one form of space travel following the lanes. We could also use this mechanic to give big threats to the galaxy a one up, such as not restricting the Vong to lane travel when they invade.
H) Half of me is hoping that we can randomly generate parts of the galaxy though this is not very likely. Most likely the unknown regions will become a modder generated area for anyone to explore. Also there will be places in the known galaxy that are not explored, such as sith worlds (at some start dates) worlds in wild space, and the gree. Basically places once known but long since forgotten.
I) All legend information will be implemented and as far as I know biowares games are both canon and legends.
Hope this gives you some general idea of what is planned.

@Bevillia
Pretty sensible answers, I approve this message. To be honest we haven't discussed the implementation of mechanics that much. Even with dev diaries out it is really hard to speculate what can be modded and how. We have thrown around some ideas though.

@aruon
Yep, def. I also see the Gree as a "fallen empire", one in which doesn't research anymore and has gone past its golden age. The Kwa are also another species that build gates throughout the galaxy, though they were largely wiped out by the Infinite empire.

Yes, this mod is still being actively developed.

If I could help, I would. However, I know only the very basics of coding, and the basics of terrain creation and character creation. I also have some good knowledge of Star Wars lore, but it's not all rounded. So yeah, I can't help much...

I'd totally be interested in helping with this, but I know little about modding (though I really want to learn that and coding) :'(

... On the other hand I'm a massive wealth of Star Wars knowledge in pretty much all the Eras (such a nerd I know)

@GhostKiller01 @Victoria Charlemagne
Honestly, right now there is not much to do. After the next dev diary, the team will most likely be discussing theoretical ways of implementing the star wars universe into the game. A lot of the research for the mod has already been done, IE we have a systems list of all the systems we want to include and a species list. If you guys are still interested in being involved them feel free to PM me and then I will tell you how you can join the discussion/team. As well as link you to our research.
