I got bored and watched all 12 episodes to the Blorg game played on youTube (remarkably interesting) and I'm curious about a few things after reading most of this thread and had some observations I would be interested in hearing comments on.
So, Stellaris doesn't have fighters. Is that even a problem? Your own empire can develop multiple factions and even revolt and become independent. Federations give a lot of weight to taking actions which all its members agree on and players may not control all the empires in a federation. Characters appear to be expanded off of EU. A lot of appointing characters and using them to improve them though gaining experience, Don't remember them being renewable but since you can rename every ship and world in game I don't think it will be a problem. Can't imagine how the lightsaber post in the thread would be used in game as there are no individual combatants. You can find primitive species and infiltrate them and other similar things. Didn't see any espionage. Time appeared to be in years and characters remained around forever. You can play a fungus race, but no artificial intelligence (i.e. cylon/droid) races.
All and all I think Stellaris is going to be the new benchmark for this kind of game. Beats everything else hands down.
now this is definitely going to depend on the scale of the empire in question. under the galactic republic, each system that represented itself (naboo, ryloth, kashyyyk, etc.) are pretty much equivalent to IRL Swiss Cantons, which work much like states in the USA... except ones can legally just flat out leave the country at any time they damn well please. meaning that ingame, they are entities capable of being played. and since they are generally single-system governments or are at least limited to a few systems (and 1 or maybe 2 species) at most, it'll be very unlikely if smaller or even medium-size empires suffer from revolts.
and while sith style empires on the other hand are like the Republic in how they are also totally sector-based in how they'd run ingame, their sectors are far larger and much more likely to have clashing ethos.
agreed, this is what worries me the most about the limitations present in adapting stellaris to the SWU. sith empires are all about heavy handed direct control, non-jedi/sith nations are much more like vanilla, and the Republic looks at face value to simply be unfeasible. though i suppose if worst comes to worst, there could be some laws and modifiers abstracting "membership" as it were.

the fortunate thing with this system is that the mod devs don't have to add in every character of importance. and thank god for that otherwise we'd never get to play this mod.
that's what i wondered. fortunately modifiers follow CK2 by using a picture to represent what they are. and using those lightsaber pictures for example, they could represent a surprising amount of things: replace the 5 stars in skills or the color showing some different modifier (i.e. red lightsaber = dark side character).
unless you want to uplift the noghri, there really aren't many species worth bothering with that. well, maybe the gungans so you can try and create Darth Jar Jar Binks.
that one is all modifiers. most likely the "hardy" modifier will get nerfed eventually. and more modifiers can be made which have more or less extreme effects on lifespan.
I wonder if you seen some of the talk about Psioncis and Zro Dust, oriented around a Psionic trait characters can get. Could this lead to a rare force sensitive trait for characters that naturally gives them bonuses, maybe a training event line for knight hood and so on? I feel as though the force would work best if kept to characters and maybe some rare builting like the Temple or smaller training facilities for some sort of bonus.
Wow this is awesome to run into. Now I'm over hyped for 2 things, Stellaris, and then this. Will I never be able to quench my thirst for awesome games?

I think Stellaris will fit the SW world really well. Really looking forward to it.
That said, I came across this the other day. Looks absolutely brilliant and might fill the niche until this mod gets off the ground. I've been considering picking it up just for the mod itself as it really has that Rebellion vibe to it.

damn. another brand new 4X? polaris sector looks pretty cool, it's x-ray/topdown view of a ship looks exactly like how FTL does it, and i love that game! also i love how the publisher (Slitherine Ltd.) are the same people who did the simulations for deadliest warrior years ago.

I had an opportunity to give Polaris Sector a try with a friend. Its interesting, but found it difficult to get the hang of. Being able to design your own ships is a good idea, but I didn't find it very relevant. I did like that player control their own fleets during combat, though I sucked at it. All and all I think Stellaris will be better.
That’s all for now, planet-dwellers. Next week, art director Aerie will explain how to get your own art into the game. Exporters! Graphics! Spaceships!
I can provide some 2D and little bit of 3D knowledge.

Jeah. It was one of the most important regions of the SW universe. In the old EU the Emperor send Thrawn to conquer the unknown region. In the new EU the hole "First Order" was reformed, reequipped and reorganised in the unknown region (beside the fact that they were able to build a superweapon at the unknown region). But unfortunately the unknown regions are still unknown because the EU material is limited.
