i would actually like to have this option, seems right to be able to change your start date, but think it would be hard to change the month day system, but just a year 0 start or your 10000 start would be nice

It was sixty based. But I assume that it was replaced by the decimal system because it's easier to count 10 fingers and Base your mathematics on it.

Well, the date is obviously a human date, but you could just see a similar way of counting years and time for every species you are playing.

It has been a long time since I last dipped into the modding world, but I am under the impression that the engine it uses is built mostly on the Gregorian calendar, so it might be difficult to retool it for such purposes.

I am sorry, but that sounds as if it would get really messy when used in multiplayer. Like: "Yeah, my technology is finish in 20 Oczentric Quartalunits", or "Give me one more Halfmooncircle, then I am ready to launch my attack."
