In FAQ there is something I believe is incorrect:

# Finno-Ugric

* Finnish

...

# west_slavic

* czech
* slovak
* polish
* hungarian
* schlesian
Shouldn't it be like this:

# Finno-Ugric

* Finnish
* hungarian
...

# west_slavic

* czech
* slovak
* polish
* schlesian

Hungarian language, like Finnish, is a non-Indo-European, Finno-Ugric language and has nothing in common with Indo-European Slavic languages...

But language roots aren’t necessarily more important than the sharing of customs a culture over the centuries. There is a reason that the link between the Finnish and the Hungarians wasn’t detected until the nineteenth century. ;)

You are right, but then this group should have another name, like "central_european" not "west_slavic"... :rolleyes:

I'd think it's more a regional designation (like 'sphere of influence') than anything else. Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian and Basque are the only exceptions anyway and it'd be silly to rename whole groups just to fit them.

I agree. I assume that the culture groups will be introduced because provincial culture changes will more likely happen between the members of culture groups. Let´s assume that Poland owns Ruthenia with Hungarian culture and other Polish provinces border Ruthenia. In this example, Hungarian culture in Ruthenia will more likely to change Polish culture(same culture group + (possible neighbor province bonus)) than Swedish culture which is completely outside culture in Eastern Central Europe in case that Sweden owns Ruthenia.

just what I said too! :mad:

Hungarians always known we were not like the people around us, always searched for relatives. We had legends and old stories about where we came from, and a cleric has gone into east and found some people who he could communicat with, even if hard.

Hungarians don't change easily culture, also it was harder to get other people into culture with 'converting'.

It should be called Central European rather then West Slavic really.
I could agree with that, much much more than being slavic.

I would rather have a group only for us with all its negatives (harder convertion, higher revolt rish, less income, ect) than to be called slavic.

There should be also events(based on real life historic events and conditions) that allow you to change the composition of culture group or even culture groups themselfs.

I agree, the terms "slavic" might be considered an affront to many, as it is politically abused by Russian nationalism. There is no noticable "west slavic" culture after all, it means just language group(of which hungarians aren't part of course)

On the other hand if you look at the extent of Jagiellonian rulers (similiar to Habsburgs) all those countries were ruled by them.

Central European would be much more neutral and acceptable.
