If you check the hoi_counter_size.bmp you see a brigade size symbol (single X). So there seems to be a standalone brigade, but the question is, how to get such a standalone brigade up? Anyone has any ideas?

This doesnt bring a uniticon with just one "X" up. It still remains a divsion with two "XX".Grosshaus said:Give a division max strength that is so small that it's only a brigade no matter how it's reinforced. Then you have a brigade.

There has to be a way to get a brigade up which does us the correct size symbol else they woudnt have implemented it.

Permanganate said:Pity, I'd have preferred army group symbols, since you get (Army) XXXX's standing in for 4-24 units on any front in HoI1. So far, I haven't been able to reproduce brigades...perhaps they're only in battle scenarios and there's a switch in the OoB line to make a division a brigade.

Can you have the normal brigades as divisions in such scenarios?

here it is.
notice that the army is called 15. Panzerdivision and consists of a panzerregiment and an infantrybrigade.
but it says that the army consists of 2 divisions...
edit: oh, and i just noticed they're both under 100% strength.

No.The Wookiee said:The division consists of 2 divisions. Creepy.
AFAIK those symbols indicate which model the units are. I.e. improved motorized infantry (motorized model 2) and a basic medium tank (armour model 3).Raen said:Actually, according to the symbols, it's a regiment and a battalion....

Its a Corp, made up of 2 divisions.
For falvour the names are altered.
TheLand said:Yep.
The smallest land unit HOI can model is the division. Where units existed historically that were in brigade strength, this is modelled by creating divisions at 30 to 60% strength and setting their name to "X Brigade". Then if you want a division-sized unit composed of these, you create a stack which would normally be a corps and give it a name which makes it say it's a division.
So that division is accurately modelled in terms of strength, but it looks to the game as if it's a two-division corps unit.

SpecialErik said:So that means no specific brigade counters.
aeternum said:check the file hoi_counter_size.bmp and you fill find a specific brigade counter. Its the one on the left with just one "X".
