When I'm travelling around on the bus or am in my bed trying to sleep I can't get Stellaris out of my mind, I watch the blorg vods and bought the game on pre-order release.

While I was thinking about it I remembered Wiz talking about pops migrating from worlds as they fill up and I was wondering about worlds that have full pops. When a new pop is created on that world and migration isn't allowed, do they just get executed? I thought it would be cool if you could stack multiple pops on a single tile (with diminishing returns of course, I was thinking like half for each time, 1, 1.5, 1.75, etc) so you could fill up a world then keep building tall.

Might be terrible idea, just a thought I had. ^_^

it just won't grow a new pop,

however assuming your empire is expanding and tile blockers are being taken off as well as terraforming worlds inside the core of your empire you will have less full worlds. which will prompt pops to move from the full worlds to the not as full ones with the exception of the homeworld which has 100% habitability and its hard for pops to get much happier then they are on the homeworld so they don't have much reason to leave.

So i imagine while a "migration restricted" empire has advantages (stop like minded xeno scum from congregating in places where they can form powerful factions, have them be splintered), forcing settlers to deal with a less than ideal colony that is of strategic importance / will have conditions improve later etc. That free migration will cause your colonies to naturally grow to full saturation faster as pops shuffle around, which means full planet x is now having an empty slot that is growing a pop because one pop moved to new colony Y which is also growing a pop, instead of Colony Y being alone, the growth rate doubled

Stacking is an interesting idea though, i imagine it would be hard to support food-wise and cause extra unhappiness from overcrowding which further kills productivity. Which from a gameplay perspective gives you an interesting choice, do you go with unhappier, less efficient (but overall more productive) worlds, or keep worlds at their "natural optimum" of 1 pop per tile. Could be represented by a planetary edict to allow stacking.

of course that might just be complicating things a bit
