Anybody still playing HOI I? Quite new to HOI I have understood that stacking penalties is a quite central rule. As I understand it you get a penalty in combat if you stack a lot of units. But the manual dont say anyting about it and neiher do the patch info readme.

I have searched the FAQ at paradox but been unable to find an explicit and general explanation of the stacking penaty rules. What are they? How many units can you stack without penaly and what are the penalties etc etc? Its frustrating to play when you dont know about such a frundamental game rule. Can somebody explain these stacking penalty rules please?

If you are defending with more than 24 divisions in a province, the excess divisions will suffer from a penalty. The highest ranking leader in a stack commands the battle. So a Field Marshall in the stack will raise the limit to 12. Since the Field Marshall also doubles ground unit stack limits, it is raised to 24. Note that it doubles stack limits in adjacent provinces as well. I think it also raises effectivity by 15% if you are adjacent to a HQ unit(commanded by a field marshall)

Don't forget that if you are playing with a recent patch (1.6c) there is a new air staking penalty. Air "squadrons" receive a penalty when more then 4 are together.

EDIT:

Nevermind, I see the link posted has "updated 1.6c numbers". Silly me :eek:o
