Hi,
I'm having a bit of a problem with a consistent crash issue I'm running into. Essentially after playing a game for some time, I invariably hit a wall where the game crashes on the same date. Honestly, which date it is doesn't really matter, rolling back to a save 20 years before just slightly alters the date of the crash but it's overall pretty much the same behavior.
The exception log is pretty much consistently this story:
Now, the bugbear in the room is that I am using a mod, MEIOU and Taxes specifically. While I know modded games aren't supported here, I have reason to believe it's something to do with my computer and EU4 at a base level - specifically, when playing a save on multiplayer, I find if I transfer the save that crashes to a friend and they host the game, it does not crash for them. Additionally, this same problem has been happening to me in Crusader Kings 2, it's the exact same type of crash (that too is modded, HIP, for the sake of clarity). Perhaps it's notable that the uncompressed size of the save files when these games crashed was between 90-100 mb, but I'm not certain it's a factor.
Lastly, I have recently done a factory reset on my computer. Probably the most notable change as a result of that is that Windows 10 has updated to the latest versions. Before, while on a Windows 10 version released years back, my game did not have these issues. Same computer, and nothing else has changed.
I've done all the default troubleshooting steps, verifying the integrity on steam, doing memory and hard drive checks, driver checks, clean installs. So if anyone has any insight into that specific crash, help would be much appreciated. I have a feeling it's to do with Windows 10, but it's hard to say. Thanks!
Edit:
Looking through the error log myself, a pretty consistent trend is:
[virtualfilesystem_physfs.cpp:1239]: Could not open file: common/000_table_of_contents.txt, error: not found
[version.cpp:322]: Invalid file when updating checksum: common/000_table_of_contents.txt
With variations existing for hundreds or thousands of different files I guess coming from the mod. It seems to me like there's something maybe wrong with how my system is processing the virtual file system (which I do not have the tech knowledge to exactly understand), maybe after a certain degree of load is put onto it, it just stops recognizing the mod files. Not sure, but I thought it was noteworthy to point out.
