So here is a thing, you declare war on a nation which had prisoner in 3rd nation, when you annex the targeted nation you inherit the imprison character as yours, which on monthly base reduces stability , currently i have inherited 2 characters and im losing 0.05 stability for not even my character, this is leftover from 1.5 version

Wouldn't mind if it was my prisoner. This is a prisoner which I inherited when conquering another state and nothing to do with me. Given that I exiled\ put to death their nobles why would I care about prisoners of theirs held by a third state. It's just an annoying bug and the stability hit is a bit silly really.

Yeah, it might be WAD, but it feels very much like a bug.

It would at least make some sense if just influenced some province in the newly conquered territory.

A general stab hit just feels wrong.

This is the worst bug of 2.0 (far worse e.g. than the moving capitals which caused so much outrage) and I was really disappointed that they pushed a tiny bugfix patch in the form of 2.0.3, fixing non-issues like the ability to disband levies, but somehow left this comparatively massive problem unaddressed.

But yeah, I get it, I should be grateful that we got a bug fix patch at all. I'm just salty because almost half of the fixes in 2.0.3 are for exploits that made the game better in my opinion.

I agree with above.
It would make more sense if there were several options for those characters:
1. They imprisoning nation kills them.
2. The character arrives in your country as a refugee with zero loyalty to you and becomes a destabilizing influence or potential leader for a civil war.
3. There must be other options...
4. Got one; A new merc leader with an Army of veterans from his old country.
5. Bound to be some more...

This can also occur when waging a war of annexation, one of my own client states can capture important characters of the nation I'm attacking. When the war ends (as it always does), my own client is now imprisoning a character from the now annexed state and applies that penalty.
Why do I care that a person that was connected to a political entity that no longer exists is imprisoned in a loyal subject's dungeon? This is beyond absurd.

There is so much "wrong" things in game nowdays, more or less features/leftovers from previous versions which dont work with the current one, for start is buildings required for missions, price is the same as in 1.2 version but income is reduced from that point for 80% so missions can drag themselfs for decades without any good reason . Testing the game in observe mode is not good enough ground to release the patches and unfortunately i have a feeling that this is the only way how developers test the game. Without actually playing what has been done the resulta of the "patches" will just be holes in older systems of the game.

"You captured the head of familiy with largest powerbase who has nothing but negative traits and sitting permanently on about 30 loyalty? By all means, keep him! Please, I insist!"
I mean, this one makes sense. You may not like him, but having the second most powerful person in your country imprisoned by an enemy should probably affect your stability.

Things get silly when you get the same penalty because your subject imprisoned the general of some random Thracian tribe you annexed.

I wondered where this was coming from. The annoyance factor of this bug is greatly compounded by the absurd cost of ransoming the useless twit.

What I dont get is why this isn't casus belli/a war goal. Like if some podunk tribe wants to hold my citizen, why can't I go to war with them or tell them to release the fool or else.

Did you give their important families asylum? Because I’ve got this problem too, though I‘m always sparing the life of all of their important families. Never tried how it will be if I just crucify them all.

The issue is the characters already imprisoned by another tag by the time you can annex target country. You'll inherit the prisoner.
