Already construction workers are swarming over the building and a new sign is beginning to be placed on the building and the other signs directing people to the various parts of the hospital are being changed as well. The hospital is open and nearby an apartment building is starting to be built.

A nearby park has been reserved for a concert by legendary performer John Black soon. Municiple permits are being filed for the concert as well.

Crowds have assembled and the volunteers busily accept ticket money for this charity concert.

In the background, roadies tune up equipment and perform soundchecks. But before the show can start, there are some important words from the man behind the event, and the hospital....Per Amric Al'Aeshir.

President Al'Aeshir approaches the mike.

Hello and thank you for coming out here to see the legendary John Black! He has graciously agreed to do this and I deeply appreciate him doing this for the Children's Hospital.

All the proceeds for the concert will be going to the charity. I will PERSONALLY match the funds generated from my own pocket. I had originally intended other artists to appear as well, but they weren't able to arrive in time, and therefore without further ado, Let me just say this....

Let's give it up for the legendary John Black!

"Hello. I'm Johnny Black.

CASH.jpg

I'd like to thank Amric Al'Aeshir for inviting me tonight and for his work and investment in opening this children's hospital. Nothing is more tragic than weak and the innocent fall prey to disease and injury. Your donation to attend this concert will help heal these children and make them whole again.

I'm about as far from innocent, myself, but I believe every man can be redeemed if he serves his penance. And this song is about serving punishment."

I hear the train a comin'
it's rolling round the bend
and I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when,
I'm stuck in Schwarzered prison, and time keeps draggin' on
but that train keeps a rollin' on down to Chateauvallon..
When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son,
always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns.
But I shot a man in Landfall just to watch him die
now every time I hear that whistle I hang my head and cry..

I bet there's rich folks eating in a fancy dining car
they're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars.
Well I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free
but those people keep a movin'
and that's what tortures me...

Well if they'd free me from this prison,
if that railroad train was mine
I bet I'd move just a little further down the line
far from Schwarzered prison, that's where I want to stay
and I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away.....

"This next song is about the folly of youth, bravado, and the mistakes our children make. Hopefully we can teach them through better examples."

A young herdsman named Billy Joe
Grew restless on the farm
A boy filled with wanderlust
Who really meant no harm
He changed his clothes and shined his boots
And combed his dark hair down
And his mother cried as he walked out;

"Don't take your guns to town, son
Leave your guns at home, Bill
Don't take your guns to town."

He sang a song as on he rode,
His guns hung at his hips
He rode into the territorial town,
A smile upon his lips
He stopped and walked into a bar and laid his money down
But his mother's words echoed again;

"Don't take your guns to town, son
Leave your guns at home, Bill
Don't take your guns to town."

He drank his first strong liquor then to calm his shaking hand
And tried to tell himself at last he had become a man
A dusty Norseman at his side began to laugh him down
And he heard again his mother's words;

"Don't take your guns to town, son
Leave your guns at home, Bill
Don't take your guns to town."

Bill was raged and Billy Joe reached for his gun to draw
But the stranger drew his gun and fired before he even saw
As Billy Joe fell to the floor the crowd all gathered 'round
And wondered at his final words;

"Don't take your guns to town, son
Leave your guns at home, Bill
Don't take your guns to town."

John Black plays several more songs before concluding..

"Well, that about wraps it up. I'd like to thank all of you for coming out and I hope you'll stay for the next acts. Thanks again to Amric Al'Aeshir for establishing St. Brendanstown Children's Hospital.

I've had a few requests for this one, so let me close with it. Here it goes..."

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
if only we'd had health care for the children.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.
Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

"Thank you, good night."

From one of the first rows, Prof. Schneider cheers as John Black leaves the stage, being himself a long time fan of the Eutopian singer.

After Black finished and the roadies swarm onstage to prepare all for next act, Leonard leaves his seat and goes towards Al'Aeshir near the stage.
"Good evening President, great concert, right?"

"A wonderful concert indeed, Professor Schneider. It's a real treat to see the legend himself performing in front of a live audience. There is just nothing like it in the world. So you have had a good time tonight, yes?"

"Thank you. That is very generous of you, Professor."

Motions over an accountant looking person, and hands her the check.

"I'll give it to her, as she is one of the one's who are handling the money. So, Professor, are you going to be spending some time in government this term?"

The concert continues with notable performances by:

Jonnie Mellon
Daniel Charlie
Billy Nelson
Small and Poor
and Many Stars

...and then concludes.

The costs of such a spectacular event do eat into the profits, but a reasonable amount was raised for the hospital's foundation.

More successfully, the favorable public relations and community support built from the event will benfit the hospital for some time.

President Al'Aeshir steps back up to the mike...

"Thank you everyone who came out to see all our wonderful performers. Your money will be doing good work for the St. Brendanstown Children's Hospital. I thank you. The families thank you and the children thank you. Have a safe journey and good night."
