I'm currently running two 500GB HDDs in Raid 1 and am looking to get a (small) SSD for Paradox games (Ironman autosave!).

Can anyone that has upgraded to a SSD share his experiences, is it worth it? Especially in the later stages of a game the constant breaks do impede my enjoyment of EUIV and CKII.

Thanks in advance.

Yes SSD is definitely an improvement. I use a Crucial 1 TB SSD and the difference between platter style hard drives and SSD's is significant. Matter of fact I think it's the single best upgrade you can make to a relatively new PC. A new video card or processor usually results in a small difference, but SSD is a huge difference. I just finished an ironman game to 1821 and auto-saves are less than a second, everytime.

SSDs are expensive, but all of my machines have them now, and while EU IV doesn't run much faster, the saves are night and day faster on the SSD vs even a 7200
