They got independent in 1948, but I have not found a tag for them. Does one exist?

No, it doesn't exist at the moment. The island is released as an optional part of India. Try posting something in the Suggestions forum asking for it. It's too late for 1.3, but it might make it into a later patch; they've added a tag in patches before. (Remember ALI in EU2?
