Unless you use an exploit to get a huge population on tge habitat, you are going to have a handful of knights at most.

Each squire produces 2% of a knight's production. Hitting 24% requires 12 knights, which in turn requires almost 100 population on a tiny station.

For most of the game, this means the only smart thing to do is not have any squires.

I suggest +0.25 knight jobs per squire nminstead of +2% (or whatever is balanced). This both makes sense in fiction, and doesn't suffer from the same non-linarities. It also models squires supporting knights better than the 2% thing.
