For those of us who play with sprites, I think the capability to allow different sprites for different levels of units would be nice. I don't know if Paradox would be willing to implement all of the sprites themselves, but allowing the capability would look good, because it seems really weird having a supersonic interceptor illustrated by a propeller-driven plane.

This is already implemented for ships, and IIRC it works for air units too (though I've never tested it). What I think might be even more necessary is to bring back the differences (as far as sprites go) between Tactical Bombers, Strategic Bombers, Naval Bombers, and Air Transports. It was like that in HoI2 vanilla, so why isn't it in Doomsday/Armageddon??

How is this implemented?
He's not talking about unit types, but about technological differences in units.
As in: '36 INT F having another sprite than '43 INT F for example.

Even if the sprite with no mods is the same for all different tech ships it is possible to have unique sprites for each shipclass, level and country (at least for capital ships). Download the shipsprite pack to see this awesomeness in action :)

No, it doesn't. Playing in the 50s with supersonic interceptors still gives you propeller sprites.

As far as default sprites go, that's true. For what I described to happen, you have to use custom sprites, and so far I don't think that anyone has made multi-level airplane sprites, but it should be possible.
