Some three years ago I prepared a set of sprites for HoI1, in large part converted from excellent CivIII gfx by Wyrmshadow. After some time I re-installed HoI2 and got furious at complete lack of Poland-related sprites. So, instead of bragging about it, I started converting sprites from CivIII. Here is the first part: the excellent Polish tactical bomber PZL 37B Łoś (Elk; level 2), the dive bomber PZL p.46 Sum (Catfish; level 2) and the best-known Polish fighter, the PZL p.11c (level 1).

Here's the downloads:
On my to-do list is conversion of several other sprites. Among them is the level 1 tactical bomber PZL p.23 Karaś (Crucian carp), the PZL 44 transport plane, the PZL p.30B tactical bomber (one of the most ugly tac bombers of all times, Lvl 1), the prototype fighters and escorts, and perhaps a number of other units (incl. ships and cavalry unit!).

Here's some screenies (note the animations were prepared by Wyrmshadow for CivIII and include some frame sequences that are not visible in HoI2 (like the burning plane; also note that I eliminated the blue fins people add to CivIII sprites for some strange reasons).
And here's some screenies:

Installation instructions: unzip the files to your main HoI2 directory (where the .exe file is located).

All sprites were tested on Doomsday with CORE 0.25, but should work with other versions as well. Just remember to modify your country.csv line from "POL;DarkGray;POL;FRA;X" to "POL;DarkGray;POL;POL;X"

In case you have a problem with the PZL 37B not working properly, just rename all the .spr files from L-2 to L-1 and all should be fine.

There's more mistakes there I guess, but this one is not: have you actually seen the bomber in-game? I used the American bombers as place holders, as it seems that the bombers attack only with one sprite, while the rest could safely be omitted - or copied from some other sprite.

And sure, feel free to use them, just be sure to mention Wyrmshadow, who is their author. I merely converted them. Sure, that takes time and efforts, that does not make me the author.
Cheers

Here's another one. What did herr Rommel fear back in 1939? Was it the Rumpelstilzchen? Or perhaps his uncle? Nope, it was this ferocious creature: the mighty 7TP tank. Armed with the excellent Bofors gun (perhaps the only WWII AT gun still in military service in the 21st century), powered by a mighty diesel engine and decently armoured as for its' epoch, it was arguably the best light tank of early World War II. Here it is:

The sprite is yet another of my conversions of Wyrmshadow's animations for CivIII. Just unzip the file to your main HoI directory and... enjoy. All comments are welcome!

After I converted 7TP, the basic Polish light tank, I felt something was missing. You know what? Sure, the medium tank for Poland. Historically, the war started too early for Poland to have late-war tanks, but it did have projects and prototypes. Among them was the 10TP cruiser tank. Sure, not the most beautiful machine ever built, but still :)

You're wondering what do Polish tanks do on both sides of the Channel? Well... the Americans are wondering as well :)

It's been almost 70 years now, yet people still repeat the same good ol' Nazi propaganda about Polish cavalry allegedly charging tanks. Nobody cares that such event never occurred, that Polish cavalry was the elite of the army and was more than well-equipped in AT guns, that the cavalry fought as mounted infantry rather than mediaeval cavalry... who cares, the myth hangs on. Before you write something of that sort here, be sure to read up on the actual cavalry charges of 1939 - and their effects.

So, you guessed it. In my conversion spree (nothing to do with proselytism though) the time has come for Wyrmshadow's excellent Polish cavalry sprite. Here you go: a uhlan flying the pennant of the 2nd 'Grochów' Uhlans' Regiment, part of the Suwałki Cavalry Brigade.

Note that on this screenie the positions of the cavalry are wrong. I already corrected that.

Just unzip the file to your main HoI directory and... enjoy. All comments are welcome!

Air and sea units need only two attack anims, in SW and in NE direction. Land units need attack anims for all directions (8). All units need a "stand" anim and move anims for all directions.

The thing is that original P'dox units use only two anims for ships, as it should be, but planes come with 8 as well, though as said only two of them are used. I didn't realize this with my early air unit sprites until Gepard told me.

Oh, BTW, are you the same BeBro who made all those lovely infantry sprites for CivIII? If so, I have several questions for you, perhaps you could help me.

There's an issue with the Polish bomber in this pack:

Many of the *.spr tags and *.bmp file names represent a strange sprite which is included in teh polish pack: "T-BOMBER A-FIRE C-USA".

Thare are only two genuine "T-BOMBER A-FIRE C-POL" sprites for directions E and NE, the rest are the imposter sprite.

USA imposter:
T-BOMBER%20A-FIRE%20C-USA%20L-1%20D-SE.bmp

POL NE firing:
T-BOMBER%20A-WALK%20C-POL%20L-2%20D-NE.bmp

It conflicts with USA bomber sprite (but only when it's firing) and causes other obvious issues. Sing out when you have it sorted as I'd like to use it. ;)

Most probably it's my mistake, if the .bmp is included with the download you'd most likely have to delete it. Or perhaps it's because I made this conversion for DD that uses only two firing positions, while other versions of HoI might use all four directions. No idea, really...
