Hey guys, not up to much to do so decided to start this up :)
Tis an AAR of my campaign as Germany in Doomsday (1936 Campaign).

We shall pick up the story just before everything kicks off.

------------

After we retook Memel, the Fuhrer:
chaplin_sak.jpg

(seen here overviewing Case White)
asked OKW to prepare plans for a possible war with Poland if they did not cede over Danzig.
Case White - Fall Weiss was put forth.

The General staff came up with the idea of using 8 out of the 9 Panzerkorps, split into two Armees.
1. Panzerarmee made up of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Panzerkorps amounting to 8 Panzer divisions and 4 motorised infantry division, will smash through the Polish front line at Cracow and head for Lublin.
2. Panzerarmee made up of the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Panzerkorps, totaling 3 Panzer divisions and 9 motorised divisions, will smash through Danzig, link up with the troops in East Prussia and head to the Northeast of Warsaw.

They will be followed up by infantry to hold the ground, thus the capital and the vast majority of the Polish army will be surrounded. We can then destroy there army in our own sweet time.
It would also open the possibility of some of the motorised troops to capture the airfields at Brest Litovsk and allow the Luftwaffe to fly over and be within range of the capital.
CaseWhite.jpg

The plan was accepted!

August 30th 1939, War is declared … we are not at war with Poland and her allies.

The troops already in there starting positions as tensions increased over the past few weeks where ordered up to there start lines.
Case White was put into Action!

In the following hours a massive air raid by Stukas and Dorniers is made along the front, the artillery also opens up as the first German soldiers make contact with the Polish army as the 1st Panzerarmee attempts to breakthrough the Polish line at Cracow.

By midday the battle is won and our boys are moving into and through Cracow while the Polish troops scatter in every direction.

In the evening the Polish attack East Prussia and send its garrison fleeing, this is followed up by the first British air strike on German soil, over western Germany

September 1st - Danzig is taken unopposed, the population is ecstatic!
The Polish airforce after taking a battering on the 1st day get there machines in the and make an air raid over Slovakia, attacking German and Slovakian troops. Slovakia declared war.

In the evening, a Polish destroyer which escaped port after Danzig was captured is sunk.

Sept 2nd, 2nd Panzerarmee arrives in East Prussia.

Sept 3rd,The Polish launch a counterattack to take Danzig, 2 motorised infantry divisions, the tail end of the 2. Panzerarmee take up the defence, hopelessly outnumbered and hope that an Infantry Corp which is heading there way makes it in time reinforce them and save the city.

During the day as the 1.Panzerarmee motors away through Poland it is revealed that intel has missed that the Polish army is equipped with tanks, TKS tankettes to be precise, however they are no match for the PzIIIs and the Stukas and are easily brushed aside

In the late evening, our holding force is thrown out of Danzig, however the Poles do not follow up and retake the city.

Sept 5th, late evening the 2nd Panzerarmee arrives at its objective thus bring the 1st claw of the pincer into place.

Sept 6th, 1st Panzerarmee hooks up with 2nd Panzerarmee, thus securing the encirclement of Warsaw and what we believe to be the majority of the Polish army a sum of 33 division … the campaign is essentially won!

Sept 7th, several U-boats are caught attempting to head out into the Atlantic, 3 are lost but in return they sink a British heavy cruiser.

Sept 8th, the first air raid is made against Warsaw, devastation is brought to the city.

Sept 9th - The ugly sisters - Scharnhorst & Gneisenau, leave port and head west. They soon run into a Royal Navy Task Force. In the ensuing battle, they inflict heavy damage upon several of the RN ships but in turn are badly knocked up themselves.

Sept 11th, Rommels 5.Panzerkorp captures the airfields at Brest Litovsk, Stukas fly in and land and are soon followed up by BF109’s.

Sept 15th, air forces and troops start to reorganise for the final assault on the pocket around Warsaw
TheWarsawPocket.jpg

During the day British aircraft make light bombing runs over East Germany! This is followed up by the French who attack across the border and brake through the West Wall on a very small frontage. All reserves are moving to the area to prepare for a counterattack.

Sept 17th
Counterattacks are made to retake lost ground in the west.

V and VII Armeekorps make attacks to drive the remnants of the Polish army even further east and thus securing the 1st Panzerarmee southern flank

The first in a series of attacks are made to destroy the pocket around Warsaw. The first attack is to take the airfields at Lodz. By the evening the attack is over, the fields ours and the Polish army again running for there lifes.

Sept 21st The counterattacks against the French have failed. They capitalise on the situation and there troops occupy Stuttgart!
However Germans troops are in the process of taking Strasbourg

After dusk, the final assault on Warsaw begins, 9 motorised infantry divisions of the 2. Panzerarmee assault the city

Sept 22nd Strasburg is taken - the Maginot line is penetrated.

Sept 23rd Warsaw falls!

Sept 24th, The Soviet Union invades Eastern Poland, Poland surrenders, and the Reich annexes Western Poland.
Theend.jpg

The final frontlines, our troops then withdraw in some case several hundred miles as per our agrement with the Soviets before the war.

In 25 days we had won the war against Poland and the world stands shocked!

Sept 28th, KMS Scharnhorst is lost attempting to brake out into the Atlantic.

A massive offensive is launched to retake Freiberg, this attack will however abandon Stuttgart to the French, although it will encircle several hundred thousand French soldiers on Germany soil.

The end of September, the attack failed and we have been kicked out of Stuttgart regardless. The majority of the army is soon to arrive from Poland and will deploy to relieve the battered elements of the German army here and retake the city and surrounding towns.

The rail and road network is overloaded with the massive troop movements, but even so they are slowly but surly moving west!

In just over a month of war, casualties have amounted to around 100 000 men, mainly due to the offensive and defensive actions taking place on the Franco-Germany border, we have also lost around 100 planes. 11 U-boats, the Sharnhorst and a destroyer have also been lost for a British Heavy cruiser and around 100 000 tons of shipping.
We had expected losses to be incurred during the campaign against Poland and had made arrangements for them (moving the reinforcement counter from 0to14ic), however losses have been much higher then expected.

This is definitely not we had planned for!

In response to the huge losses, a recruitment drive is being made to increase the number of infantry (motorised) divisions we have, as well as the construction of more armoured fighting vehicles (Stugs and tank hunters) to accompany the infantry.

Autumn

:)

----
In early October, the Kriegsmarine sailed out of port to seek revenge upon the Royal Navy. They threw themselves upon 20 ships of the Home Fleet off the coast of Scotland and in a battle lasting most of the day … they one by one blew up and went below the waves.
In a single day the Surface Fleet near enough ceased to exist! In return we had sunk 3 ships of the Royal Navy including an aircraft carrier. It was a very painful loss!

October 6th, Rundstedt has arrived in Dresden with his HQ and has begun planning for operations to retake the lost ground. His HQ, Army Level artillery, 4 motorised divisions and a Korp of German infantry are moving to reinforce the German forces south of the Salient, from there they will launch an offensive around the 10th or the 11th.
theplan.jpg

The plan.
He has also ordered the full weight of the Luftwaffe to be thrown into the attack in the upcoming days, which the pervious commander he has just replaced had not done.
The battered XI Armeekorps is also being taken off the lines.

Up until the 11th, Stukas dive-bombed the French positions, Dorniers struck the communication and supply lines and our BF109s fought to keep the RAF and French air force from bombing our lines.
The attack went in on the 11th just after dawn just as the Luftwaffe began its days bombings. The attack started off well but soon the forward units reported there French panzers in the area. By days end we had identified 6 panzer divisions!
Axisaar5.jpg

Stukas heading into support the attack

The assault ended on the 12th in defeat. The French had been marching more units forwards and our small attack which started off well was just halted in its tracks by the amount of French troops.

The 1st Panzerarmee has been ordered to move south from its staging area near Hanover to reinforce Rundstedts men and to make the next assault.
Also our lines around the bulge are becoming stronger every day, as men arriving back in the west after the Poland campaign, and take up there position on the line. At the same time the battered troops who have been in the midst of the defensive and offensive fighting here are then withdrawn into reserve positions.

October 20th, the French have continued to receive a battering by the hands of the Luftwaffe and have also not been able to advance any further due to our growing forces.
Intel reports that they are pulling out, too late for them, the 1st Panzerarmee is here. Just before dusk today they will strike, just as the Stukas and other bombers are overhead. They will be assisted by the elements of the 2.Panzerarmee which is also here and as well the infantry who have also increased in numbers.

The panzers and motorised infantry drove into and through the French lines in Freiberg, within hours they shattered the French defence …
Axisaar1.jpg

Picture of 1.Panzerarmee as they begin there attack

The following day, the forces surrounding the salient attacked Stuttgart. It was an overwhelming attack which inflicted horrendous losses upon both sides however the French where able to throw the landser back as they entered the cities suburbs.

With our positions in Freiberg secured by the 23rd, another attempt was made to take Stuttgart. Guderians Panzerkorp will strike from the west while the infantry again will strike from all other directions, while the rest of the Panzerarmee holds off any French counterattacks from the west, as the original plan.

The fighting was brutal, the enveloped French infantry fought furiously for the city, but could not stop our men seeking the return of the city.
On the 25th the infantry entered the city and the French began there withdrawal.
The next day the French launched a counterattack and booted the troops right back out of the city.
Guderians troops entered the city on the next day and threw the French once again out of the city, they then withstood an overwhelming counterattack by the French troops and armour. They destroyed countless numbers of French tanks.
axisaar3.jpg

Guderians men entering the city

On the 28th, Guderian was reinforced by the infantry and the town was finally secured. However there was a large number of French troops slowly retreating back towards France.

The Stukas began bombing the columns of retreating Frenchman to great effect, a few days later the Dorniers also joined in on the action.
axisaar2.jpg

The roads heading back to France are littered with the corpses and burnt out vehicles of the French army.

As November arrived, so did the snow, which also impeded the retreat of the French and allowed the bombers to continue to harass the retreating columns.

During the following days, the final load of troops from the east arrived and started moving onto the line.
Field Marshal Rundstedt now ordered the motorised troops and Panzerkorps to begin withdrawing off the line as they are replaced by infantry. He has ordered them to head back towards Hanover as he has plans for them.

November 9th, the Luftwaffe has destroyed countless French formations and our patrols have policed up thousands of prisoners. However as of today they are grounded by the snow.

November 11th, the last French troops (who are not dead or captured) leave our soil, the offensive is over and the frontlines are now as they where nearly 2 months ago.
Thousands on both sides lay dead and the city of Stuttgart is heavily damaged.

After the fighting had died down, our spies in France informed us that they now believed the French to only have 3 panzer divisions at there disposal … during these 2 months of fighting we have possibly destroyed up to 600 tanks!

It now came to light that the war started not because of Poland refusing to give Danzig back to us but because the Fuhrer was kicked out of his crappy apartment in the city for not paying his rent and wanted recenge upon the landord! … seen here in this leaked photo after his landlord told him the news:

Winter … Sitzkrieg

With the cold weather the Furher decided to take a lil trip to the Barvian alps for skiing ....

however

-----

Nov 14th, The Soviet Union declared war upon Finland, even though we had signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and had left the Baltic States to the Soviets we still sent aid to the Finns. Other then several trade deals to supply the Finnish with steal and coal we also sold off 2 World War One era battlecruisers to the Finns for a large amount of raw materials and a small amount of cash.
WNGER_827-40_skc95_Scharnhorst_pic.jpg

In mid December, after several weeks of inactivity the fighters of the Luftwaffe took to the skies. They had been inactive due to training of replacements and being reinforced with new machines as they had taken heavily losses previously.

Back in the air, when the allies seemed to have thought they had won air superiority as there were no allied fighters over our lines, the allied bombers took heavy losses. Within a fortnight, allied bombers had lessened there attacks and had limited them to only a few areas.

’39 ended with no quiet Christmas as there was several light bombing runs made against us but overall little happened.
New Years Day saw the French begin fighter sweeps over our airfields in an attempt to stop out successful interception of the bomber. After several days the French fighters stopped these missions after heavy losses. Although our own squadrons had taken heavy losses they where in a much better shape to carry operations.

During January, more allied shipping was sunk then during the pervious 4 months and we actually had fewer submarines at sea!
lone_attack.jpg

On the 26 26th February, a division in Warsaw turned in its Stugs and had a MP battalion attached to it instead, to help suppress the resistance.

March 9th, Operation Weserübung is launched. German troops cross the Danish border to stop any British or French troops occupying the country.
Axisaar6.jpg

March 11th, the troops on the gates of Copenhagen, an peace offer is made to the Danish government, they refuse. A few hours later the troops launch an attack upon the capital suburbs.
After a few hours fighting our men withdraw.

March 12th - Polish uprising! In Zamosc, Polish resistance members launched an attack on the German barracks in the area.
However within hours, troops from surrounding provinces, supported by tank destroyers, Self propelled artillery and armoured cars flooded into the area. Within the day the rebellion was put down and surviving members rounded up and imprisoned.
Axisaar7.jpg

Over Copenhagen, a light bombing raid was made, doing little damage.

The 13th, a heavy bombing raid made on Denmark, all available tactical bombers and Stukas launched an attack upon the city, massive devastation was inflicted!
On early March 15th, after another day of large scale bombing Denmark surrendered.

After the surrender, troops moved and took up position in Copenhagen and in Alborg. While most of the Luftwaffe stayed in Germany, Luftflotte II and some Stuka squadrons moved to Alborg.

The ‘Baltic fleet’, the Gneisenau and several destroyers took up positions off the coast of Norway while a korp was assembled, made up of the Alpinejager division, an infantry division and a motorised division.

With the force assembled, they took to the seas. As they sailed north, the Luftwaffe forces in Denmark started bombing raids against Oslo to soften up the Norwegian defences.

On the 21st, the troops landed. Within the day they secured the beachhead and prepared for a move east against Oslo. The Luftwaffe stepped up there raids in preparation.

A few days later, the troops moved off. After a few quick skirmishes, the Norwegian defenders fled. By the 26th Oslo was secure.

The following day a cavalry division, straight from Denmark after the brief campaign there, arrived in Oslo to reinforce the troops.
The infantry made a surprise night attack north to drive off Norwegian troops concentrating there.

In the final days of the month the dorniers of Luftwaffe II and the supporting Stukas landed in Oslo.

April 2nd, the alpine troopers make a landing in northern Norway under the coveing fire of the Gneisenau.
narvik%20gneisenau%20big.jpg

April 3rd, they attack Narvik to take the port.

April 4th the attack ends in failure and quite a lot of our troops are left behind on the outskirts of the city and port dead.

In the following days the cavalry are shipped out of Oslo and moved to reinforce the mountain troop’s beachhead.

April 9th, the mountain troops and the cavalry under the covering fire of the Gneisenau make second attack to take the city. The cities defenders cut off from there main supply base, from any reinforcements and now outnumbered, they put up a brave resistance but the battle was over by the evening

April 13th, we offered the Norwegian government a very generous peace offering, that we would take Oslo, Bergen and a small amount of land to connect each and the rest of the country would be left alone. They refused, in turn we annexed the entire country.

Axisaar8.jpg
