Will it be possible to spread your own form of government? In Vic II I always missed the opportunity to convert the republics and communists on my border back to the sublime of divine grace.

And some want to do it the other way around, I think.

There was a install communist government wargoal and a uninstall communist wargoal in Vicky2 and I'm all in Favor of having them in Vicky3.

However I don't believe there should be a similar wargoal for liberal republics. The last republic that got invaded to install a monarch was the very unrepublican napolean french empire.

What about Baden and Mexico? Or Spain into which France was marched in in 1822/23 with 80,000 men. Or Austria into which Russia was intruded during the March Revolution in order to secure Hungary?

You may have a point there, even though both Baden and Hungary could be abstracted by monarchies occupied by rebels, that got retaken.

I also had the Roman Republic on offer, which was smashed by the French and went back to the Pope.
It was a republic itself at that time, but it wasn't long with Napoleon III.

While great for roleplay, are there any actual gameplay benefits in doing this? I imagine you'd get better diplo relations from same government but why would you spend warscore on that? You could also add them to your sphere, or whatever is the Vicky 3 equivalent, but that would be a separate war goal. So I don't know, what would make "regime change" a worthwhile wargoal? Internal pressure from your own pops?

I honestly have no idea. But monarchy or democracy was an important thing back then. But yes, if there is not something else, it would be more RP-moderate

One of the core pillars of the game is national gardening, the slow tending of your nation as its society evolves. Given that I doubt abrupt discontinuous changes are something the devs will be interested in enforcing from outside your country (at least until late game when communism and facism could potentially shake things up).
Doesn't really fit with the gardening ideal (unless you garden with a flamethrower).

Well there is always the neighbor's tree who distributes his monarchical leaves in your democratic garden. ;)

Joking aside, there was almost a dozen times when I was stretching in the 19th century, so I want to have the opportunity too.

PS. I like to use a famethrower to get rid of the weeds between the stone slabs on my terrace.

Maybe to satisfy pops in my country who are all in favor of the system I'm spreading. But also in case of success the country I forced, let's say Democracy, upon should be in my sphere (if there is such a thing) afterwards and should really like me, because if they don't waaaaagh!!!

I would hope for different type of governments to be featured in the first place. The thing I will probably miss the most at release as things are looking to be will be the debate feature from Victoria II. I would have liked to have a parliement, but it doesn’t look like it’s in the plans.
