I have had epidemics before but now suddenly with an epidemic of slow fever at my doorstep the gates spontaneously open after I have closed them. I save quite often and have gone back 6 months but it still happens. They stay close for a while but then just opens by themselves which causes the -10 coward opinion every time you shut them? Anyone had this before? Is it a bug?

Well you seem to have linked your account so you are mostly there. Just go into the bug report section - one of the first folders on this forum - and check the report rules. Fill them out the best you can and attach a copy of the savegame(any compress standard should be accepted as an attachment). If you can't attach it, drop it on a file sharing platform and provide a link. Dropbox, google drive, etc.
