I can see the lost tech having a place in the post campaign... But I'd want it to be really rare, and REALY expensive. I'm talking "Do I buy the Spider, or the Double Heat Sink?"
Before 1990 that is exactly how battletech worked except DHS were worth a lot and often GMs would buy or trade that rare stuff for basically a light mech worth of cbills or a mech even, sometimes a medium mech if you had several items or something really good but that didn't happen often.

Now that I'm thinking back the one thing I miss from the old pen and paper salvage sheets that showed me what I salvaged, date, mission, who GM'd it (for HBS BT campaign GM could be replaced with who hired or hiring faction). Once a part was sold it or swapped it into a mech or vehicle then it was off the salvage sheet or in a game maybe noted sold/used/traded/etc. Its not important but would be nice.
Prefer a way to sort current camps lists of weapons/equipment by name both A-Z and Z-A.

You can mod it into the shops fairly easily. I dropped all the lostech into research, black market, and star league shop droptables.

Keep in mind it's really fucking expensive. At an allied system a single DHS is ~567k.

Are you supposed to get lostech lasers too? I only got the gauss rifle...

I would care more but honestly the lostech lasers kinda suck.

ER PPCs, ER MLs, and Large and Medium pulse lasers were all good in TT. But it sounds like the pulses got nerfed pretty hard?

Looking forward to seeing what the weapon balance pass looks like.

It is worth keeping in mind that ER ML is a post Clan invasion item for the Inner Sphere. ER LL is lostech though. Also in TT you couldn't mix heat sink types - and every engine includes 10 so it would get a bit tricky to get that done. You could switch from one type to another but then you needed to swap (and pay for) those sinks internal to the engine too.

I'd keep the gauss in the Highlander. The AI seems to always ignore it....meanwhile...I very quickly got half my SLDF Atlas chopped in half losing my DHS and any time I field a King Crab the AI bullies the heck out of it.

Seriously, any time my King Crab comes out, its always picked on...even over the SLDF Atlas...which is standing right beside it. Its quite strange. I have to keep it with a +++ cockput mode and a fully buffed pilot to make sure hes not killed from all the pummeling that thing takes.
Its not that they prioritize that mech specifically. You are just triggering their algorithm. I'm only going off of observation but it seems to go something like this:

1. Pile on downed mechs.
2. All other things being equal, go for the mech with lowest armor.
3. Otherwise go for the one most vulnerable to taking damage from your attack. This takes your evasive chevrons, cover and guard status into consideration.

Odds are whats happening is your Crab is likely a bit easier to reach (is it frequently ahead of the others?), has weaker evasive or isn't guarding as much. Do your other mechs have Bulwark? Enemies will target someone that isn't blocking pretty much always.

thoughts? The flamer is there cause I had an extra ton and didn't see any reason to not :pView attachment 364687

I'm also thinking about stripping most of the armor off to mount another LRM20 or a PPC or two and just hoping it never gets shot at.

Move the Gauss Rifle ammo into the legs and replace the Large laser with a AC 5. It weighs more but more then makes up for due to the reduced heat.

You mean, the AI keeps "shelling" your crab? :p Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.

It does make you wonder if the AI has a list of priority targets based on chassis...

I swear to the lord above that the AI has a hate boner for my thunderbolt. Regardless of my weapon boats like the HGN and Discolaserhopper, the AI solely goes after my poor bolt.

Honestly, I think they should have some LosTech sold at major population centers that you can only travel to after a certain point in time, but anything that is up for grabs is obscenely expensive. Ironically, you would think that some other pilots would have the occasional SLDF stuff and guard it jealously. At least, that is, until you drop 3 ppcs in their face.

AI is pretty good at choosing its targets - annoyingly so at times. But there is a solution - either make it stop or give it something easier to shoot at.

Fluffywise the problem is not that people would have had them but that since the last factories producing those went offline over a century ago (if not two) it is not really possible to maintain such equipment in active use. So they will be subject to wear and tear and eventually require maintenance that no one can apply any longer - and that is it. Hidden Star League caches are pretty much the only source for those and they will not last long - and even mere ownership of such materials should attract immediate & hostile response from a certain white cloaked techno-religious order.

Gauss ammo doesn't explode, put it any where. But rather than a AC to replace the LL, I recommend more LRMS. But I always recommend more LRMS

I know it doesn't explode in TT, but in this game the gauss ammo bin still says it can explode. I'd rather not find out it isn't the same as TT and possibly lose the mech for the remainder of the fight or worse any other lostech that happens to share the location.

I replaced all the double heatsinks on the Highlander because it's still plenty heat efficient with regulars. For the longest time I kept the doubles in storage just in case I really needed them. Then I captured the Highlander 733P and realized I could load it up with PPCs and stay heat neutral with the doubles. So now my assault lance consists of the HGN 732b with Gauss, the HGN 733P with 2 60 damage PPCs, the HGN 733 with a 120 damage/60 stab ac20, and an Atlas with a 120 damage ac20 plus 4 35 damage medium lasers. All of them have 1 lrm 15 or 20 launcher with +2 stab and +2stab srms. So I can generally pick a mech that I don't like, knock it over with missiles and core it out in the same turn.

I've picked up a 2nd Gauss... I don't even know where from :|

All I can think is it was a randomly assigned salvage drop (AND I MISSED IT!!!) because I went to refit my King Crab and realised I had one in the inventory. Had to go double check I'd not pulled it off the Highlander by accident.

Don't know how, don't know where, all I know is that I've got two of them on one mech now. Happy days :)
