Before 1990 that is exactly how battletech worked except DHS were worth a lot and often GMs would buy or trade that rare stuff for basically a light mech worth of cbills or a mech even, sometimes a medium mech if you had several items or something really good but that didn't happen often.I can see the lost tech having a place in the post campaign... But I'd want it to be really rare, and REALY expensive. I'm talking "Do I buy the Spider, or the Double Heat Sink?"
Now that I'm thinking back the one thing I miss from the old pen and paper salvage sheets that showed me what I salvaged, date, mission, who GM'd it (for HBS BT campaign GM could be replaced with who hired or hiring faction). Once a part was sold it or swapped it into a mech or vehicle then it was off the salvage sheet or in a game maybe noted sold/used/traded/etc. Its not important but would be nice.
Prefer a way to sort current camps lists of weapons/equipment by name both A-Z and Z-A.
