So i got some LosTech weapons (two ER L lasers, an ER PPC, and a Gauss Rifle), if i lose those or their ammo is it ever possible to replace them, and do they ever show up as salvage if they get blown off my mech?

It's not possible to replace them if they're blown off your mech right now... According to the AMA HBS is going to look at ways for you to get some Lostech outside of the campaign missions, but who knows when that'll be implemented.

You can't find replacements.
AND I LOVE THAT.

That's how it should be. Those parts are LosTech for a reason!

I took some of the dubs off the HGN I got since it's way too heat efficient. Thought about dispersing them to my other mechs. But then I thought of how often things get destroyed. And I decided to only use one of the dubs on my PPC sniper, since I usually keep it far off and in cover.

I also took the Gauss off the HGN because I felt I might need it once the missions go much heavier and didn't want to lose it to some RNG on a side mission. Replaced it with an AC20++. It's still a beast even with most dubs removed, figure the CT dub is probably safe.

I pulled all the DHS off trying to make a Banshee usable. Long story short, the losttech weapons and equipment are orders of magnitude safer on the Highlander with the Gauss than anything else. It rarely gets touched, much less gets into any real danger of losing anything. Between the Banshee and the Grasshopper, I've managed to lose most of the original Double heat sinks.

Yeah I swapped out the MLs and SRM for more LRMs... nothing gets near the Kurgan now. And i was able to remove some DHS to keep as spares just in case.

And now you understand the flavour of the game. If you use it, you could lose it, and if you lose it it is gone. Lost forever. But it's not like you can just, you know, have something sitting there and not use it, ya know!

Welcome to battletech. Running off a salvage economy since 2786.

I'm also thinking about stripping most of the armor off to mount another LRM20 or a PPC or two and just hoping it never gets shot at.

I can see the lost tech having a place in the post campaign... But I'd want it to be really rare, and REALY expensive. I'm talking "Do I buy the Spider, or the Double Heat Sink?"

But what about ammo? I've been slumming it and stretching the campaign missions, so I haven't salvaged any lostech yet. Can you buy Gauss ammo anywhere, once you have the rifle? I mean, technically the ammo isn't high end tech... it's just a metal slug.

You can't. You only get the 2 tons that come with the HGN. It's still free refills on that 2 tons, but the most you can drop with is 16 rounds.

In theory yes, you can get more ammo. It's listed for possible sale in one of the shop files. Look for planets with the following tags:

I'd keep the gauss in the Highlander. The AI seems to always ignore it....meanwhile...I very quickly got half my SLDF Atlas chopped in half losing my DHS and any time I field a King Crab the AI bullies the heck out of it.

Seriously, any time my King Crab comes out, its always picked on...even over the SLDF Atlas...which is standing right beside it. Its quite strange. I have to keep it with a +++ cockput mode and a fully buffed pilot to make sure hes not killed from all the pummeling that thing takes.

You mean, the AI keeps "shelling" your crab? :p Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.

It does make you wonder if the AI has a list of priority targets based on chassis...
