I played the entire game with one lance of mechs and the four original pilots. Now I'm being told that the final mission requires two lances and accompanying pilots (all have 38 or 39 skills). This strikes me as the infamous Deus Ex: Human Revolution boss fights: you play the game how you want to play it and then BAM, game makes you do something entirely different for arbitrary reasons.

Suggestions:
If the company has 8 or more heavy mechs and 8 or more pilots, leave it the way it is. Some players might like this variety.

If the company has less than 8 heavy mechs or less than 8 pilots, don't give the message about needing two full lances and instead, repair the mechs (maybe just armor?) and heal the pilots for the second part of the mission. That way it is doable with a single lance and not forcing players like me to grind for a second full lance.

Actually it's just horrible wording on their part - you do not need a second lance and additional pilots. I ran both missions with the same 4 mechs and pilots It all depends on how well you do in the first part - if you get structure damage and injuries, you may want to consider fielding backup pilot/mechs, otherwise you can send in the original team.

Yeah, just back-to-back missions. When I first read that, I avoid the final mission while I build up a reasonable second lance with decent crew. . .then found out they weren't needed. The only reason to be prepared with additional mechs/crew is so that in case your crew get injured or the mechs get wrecked, you'll have backups to use.
