Splitting the community

Slightly off topic I apologise, but directly affects everyone. I have noticed in many recent threads that people are comparing each of the titles. Pointing out why one title is better than the other. Does anyone else feel as though this is splitting the 'HOI' community?

Rather than all of the titles competing, Surely it would be more lucrative to make the best parts of each game into one. They can make lots of money on the super game and expansions etc.

Honestly, I don't care for it. I play many Paradox titles and don't really care to see the types of posts that have cropped up lately. I see plenty of bitch threads and this game sucks threads on the MMO sites I frequent. Obviously, the HOI community has been split for a while between DD/Arma, AoD, HOI3 and now DH, but the threads comparing them just turn into ugly and ultimately useless infighting. If you like a game then ask questions, give advice, constructive criticism and take part in that game's community. If you don't like the game then go your merry way and spare us your derision and bile please. I really don't care to see your itemized lists of why game X is better than game Y. They're games. Enjoy them or gtfo.

I like a modest amount of bitching. Means I get to know what games I should pass over and which I should play, keeping in mind 'different strokes', etc.

I think we should be happy that the game and the community are alive. We are talking about a game that was first released in 2005. How many games from this period still generate this amount of interest?

Both AoD and DH have added content to the game - more content than was added by either Doomsday or Armageddon for this matter. The interesting thing is that they have added different content to the game, so HOI2 has grown into different directions due to the two new games.

Of course it would be best if the two variants were combined. Since this is unlikely, we should take what we have and enjoy both versions, or just one, as we like it.

Discussions only show that the community is alive. The worst that could happen to the community is that nobody cares about HOI2, AoD or DH any longer ....

DH won't split anything until it's patched. I bought it, played it a bit, and ended up playing AoD for the rest of the week. I think im not the only one.

Theres no stopping it, people always have to fight about something. Its just like the system wars between the 360, wii, and ps3.

That's not true at all. These forums (all the paradox forums I frequent) have always been absent of argumentative posts and people. All it takes is a small amount of restraint and some respect for other people and the hobby. If you feel the need to create drama and bicker with other members, then go elsewhere.

Yes, but even if you restrain them it doesn't mean they'll fully stop, unless if they get bored and move on to a different topic to argue about.

Id really wish that paradox would just make ONE game which was awesome
. DH is pretty much a buffed up version of the orginal HOI2. So was DD, Arm and Aod. HOI3 is a whole different game though.
I was kind of disappointed that DH lost some of the nice things that AoD had added like infrastructure bonus to IC and so on. Sometimes i feel like development is going backwards.
I think alot of was the disappointed that spying did not work in Aod early versions in spite of working in Arma 1.3b, how can something become worse?

Well I think spying is better in AoD than in Arma for one.

Because AoD is based on Arma 1.2, not 1.3.

Im still evaluating. Right now im comparing AoD to DH which is very close to Arma.
Sometimes i feel like its not doing my spy ops in AoD.
