Splitting Off Parts of the HRE

Is there any method or strategy for just being able to have a war with some part of the HRE instead of having to declare war on the whole thing if I want one province in some random duchy?

Wait for a civil war and grab it before the war ends. Or inherit the province.

To clearly anwser your question: no there is no way to only declare a war with a vassal and not his liege.

2. Request Invasion CB on the revolted region that you wish for from the Pope.
3. Invade.
4. ???

You can declare war on another vassal of your liege without involving your liege if crown authority is low enough.

You can declare war on another vassal of your liege without involving your liege if crown authority is low enough.

But only if you share a liege. The Duke of Bavaria can attack the Duke of Bohemia if the HRE's crown authority is Low or None. But the King of Hungary can't attack either without provoking the Emperor so long as their feudal contract remains intact.
