Oh. I see.

I think not. podcat's post is quite clear that the ability to swap contents of divisions in this way (to create smaller divisions or reinforce depleted divisions) is a province only thing. Yeah, it seems a little daft to send troops all the way from Singapore to London in order to send them back to reinforce/re-join a division in Johor Baru, but I can live with that.

OK, so we now need to move the entire division before splitting/swapping rather than splitting a bgd off & moving it one (or a handful/few dozen of) province(s).

I suppose a lot will depend upon how long it takes to make the round-trip as to which is preferred.

Will there be the ability to set a province where reserves can be sent to? So if I remove the aforementioned TD battalion the guns and manpower go back to an area where they will wait and can then be shipped to a new area or a division where needed?

I was thinking along the lines of when removed from the division they would move through the supply network back to the supply node, so for a cut off unit they would remain in the pocket until a supply route out was secured and be lost if the pocket was wiped out

Yes, there will be a way.

I can see one already which requires you to create a division using a template which includes the units you've just split-off & giving it gardening orders somewhere while you decide what to do with them.

I'm certain podcat has stated (very early) that "reinforcement" is tied to the supply system. So yeah, that's how I see it working too. Just not to the supply node, they go all the way back to your equipment pool/capital City(?)

I would have to check if it changed, but if you disband one of two understrength divisions in a province the other will get its stuff right away. You cant easily split though but its doable with some hoops:
1. make new template thats smaller
2. make basically empty divisions with template
3. place them in same province as other divisions
4. swap those divisions to new smaller template also
5. should now share equipment without roundtrip needed through reinforcement system

hopefully nobody will do either of above very much although I have removed understrength divisions at times to consolidate where I had no access to reinforcements.

So you dont find yourself wanting to switch out support units ever? I didnt realize that feature was disappearing. The two main times id do this, is when something doesnt fit on a transport, you can split it, take half then the other half, and black ICE has armored engineers, I cant remember if Vanilla has it, and id move those around quite abit between divisions along with heavy artillery for attacking rivers, and urban. I guess in Hoi4 id just make those things their own divisions?

Im sure ill get used to it, but the lack of split and merge seems like its going to come up at least a few times.
