Sorry for all the questions, (This forum needs a noob question thread) but this is getting really annoying. How do you, when spliting an army, move one general to the new army while keeping your second general in the first army?

Doesn't that happen automatically? When you have two leaders in an army, just hit split army and you should get two armies, each with its leader.

Don't use 'reorganize' button, there's a 'split army' button, use that, and then transfer troops according to your liking by using 'reorganize' button.

When you have more than one leader in a stack, splitting the stack will divide the leaders among the new stacks until there is only one in each new stack. Reorganising will not do this: it will leave all leaders in the original stack. In order to arrange the leaders as you would like you should split the stack until there is just one leader per stack, then reorganise all but 1,000 men away from each leader. You can then play around and give each leader exactly the forces you want to. The interface could use some work when it comes to doing this, but one thing you can do as a visual aid is to order the armies you don't want to combine to march somewhere, then select and combine the rest. That done, movement orders can be cancelled.
