Hi All,

I've read about people stealing blue prints as Germany. My question is where do you come up with the cash for sustained espionage? I can generally get a few trades for a dollar here and there and have a positive cash flow, but most of the money goes to influencing places like Romania and Nat Spain... At $132 ( or whatever it costs ) per influence I barely have enough money left for counter espionage just in Germany let alone sending spies elsewhere and performing missions... Thoughts?

no point to influence Romania & Friends before near the war. Because every Country falls slowly back to 100 or 50.

And from 1937 on, you could have Rippentrop as Foreign Minister. From then on, you need less money for influencing other future Axis members.

I normally begin 1939 or 1940 to influence Italy. Ungaria, Romania and Bulgaria can wait until 1941. I must further say i play historically.

And i sell some coal or even Supplies for Money. I swim in money.

I use small-scale Resource trades to slowly bring relations up with minors... what's the point of influencing them years before the war? The relations might deteriorate again, wasting all the money you spent.

Until late 1938 or so, I use all my cash (obtained from trade) for espionage, not for influencing.

I get usually around 6$ from the SU for some supplies and like you some money from Axis trading partners ( Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, Sweden, Finland, Romania, Portugal, Turkey, Nat.Spain, Switzerland, Argentinia even Japan ) and if you want more money set up a small trade with the US and wait till you've got +50 releations than try to make a +10$ trade for supplies but it may not come cheap.
After the Anschluss you get around 1600$ from the stockpiled ressources from Wien. Spying as Germany is nice but not that usefull only France ( in the beginning ) and the UK might have something you really need ;)

Depends on what you need.

Russia has Motorized and better Tanks than you. Japan and Italy have Naval Bombers and Ships. France has better Tanks and Ships. Britain and USA have Ships. USA and Japan have Base Strike Doctrine (!!!)

Hmm... I went for early alliance with Nat Spain and got involved in the SCW without actually DoW ( thus no dissent hit ). Maybe that was a waste of influencing cash ( needed to get them to about 170 before they would ally )?

On a side note, how do you get Italy or Japan into the alliance after you trash your relations via spying?

Also, if you are already in an alliance will they leave if you relations get too bad?

As for trades, I'm currently getting something like $8 / day via trades, but I didn't really push it. It seemed like for cash you really had to offer anyone a decent amount of supplies / energy...

I feel like a target today ;)

Motorized is not that important ( i think you'll get a bp for that with the end of Czech Rep ). Russia is to important as trading partner to be a target of spying + they fall back fast. You'll get the Naval Bomber bp eventually per leading scientist joins your country event. UK has nearly always the top naval tech ( regarding ships ) and air tech+doctrines. And for the naval doctrine, as long as the doctrine bonus bug isn't fixed i'll stick with the sealane interdiction.

Don't worry... I pick on everybody!

Argumentative and unfair... but scrupulously even-handed... I'm equally unfair to everyone!
