Why would we want to do that? Dont think it has such an effect on speed?

well, i don´t have the details of the implementation!,

but the is a delay when giving orders, due to huge amount of information being passed through,
if you played starcraft you will notice a smoth gameplay in multiplayer, and they also transfer much info.

maybe there should be a way to cut down all unneccesary message.

but i don´t know were the bottlenecks are .... but maybe they are spending sometime simulating armies in countries that will never join the war,
maybe there is already a kind of optimization, that
the countries not involved doesn´t use too much network, and resources.

Good idea even though the purists will hate it. :D

If no one invades south america, it doesn't really need to be in the game since it will likely never join any alliance.

Of course, if it's not in the game, then everyone *knows* that no one will attempt any invasions there.

Regardless, in EU2 the act of removing excess AI nations will reduce the preassure on the host connection and is usually a good idea for hosts with less powerful connections. I don't doubt that it's the same here.

Then again, if the SA countries are removed, their trade is also removed from the worldmarket and that could impact the game pretty harshly. Another way to go about it is to create a south-american superstate. One nation takes up far less processing power than the odd 20 that are there now.

I think you should also disable Japan + USA as the war is usually won or lost by the time they can do anything

Don't disable only South America; disable all America from Argentina to Mexico, including the caribean nations. :)

Another alternative could be putting Bhutan and Nepal into Tibet (or U.K.), join Luxembourg in France or Belgium, Tannu Tuva in the USSR... minor things that could give a nice result if applied together with the disablement of all Latin America.

Why not instead remove all nations except for Germany, "The Allies", Soviet Union, and Japan?

And then only have 5 or so provinces.

Then get rid of pesky irritants like weather, terrain, the AI, etc

I'm sure if we also cut the game to say a Axis and Allies type game we'd have much better MP play...

;)
