Fanatic Xenophile FEs would be interesting to see. FEs are supposed to be inherently isolationist, so maybe they would be a bit more active in their nearby space?

I think the scariest one to run into would be the Fanatic Militarist FE. Perhaps they are trying to slowly restore their empire to glory by slowly comquering those around them. Would be good storytelling to form a federation against one.

You gotta assume at least some of these empires would be trying to restore what they lost. Fanatic Militarist FE would be one.

Galactic Crisises are the ones who are supposed to be in this. Younger races wouldnt stand a chance if regular F.E. ever tryed to do this. Also current F.E. mechanic forbids them from conquering planets unless activated by End Game Crisis.

Yeah, that makes sense. A Fanatic Militarist FE going around comquering people early would destroy the game. I'm thinking maybe it would be its own kind of crisis, though. Like if an empire got too big in the late game and started conquering those around them. A Fanatic Militarist FE would rise up as the challenge/counter to that empire, because they fear they would be next.

I'm just shooting out ideas here, though. Like for future DLC.

Has paradox ever discussed how fallen empires react to the end game crisis? Would fanatic materialist join a coalition against an AI uprising? Also it could be cool to see how spiritualists would react to an extra galactic invasion. Maybe they would see it as the fulfillment of a prophecy or the return of their gods. I'm thinking of how the Geth in Mass Effect see the Reapers as gods and work to help them return.

I think Observers would be pissed if you were uplifting or messing with pre-FTL races.

imho rather the opposite, uplifting is a joyous occasion! And what is a mere 1 million years of servitude in return for sentience?
Read some uplift series by David Brin ;)

Sounds interesting i will give those books a look.

But my thinking was based off their name being Observers so i felt like they would like Observing and not interfering.

Dude, I know. I was talking about AI rebelion and why would machine Fallen Empire join the rebelion directed by more primitive machines.

Did I miss something? When was it ever mentioned that they would join an AI rebellion?

They forbid researching AI so why would they suddenly help them out, from my understanding in that scenario they would annihilate both of you.

Here are some more suggestions ! I took some inspiration from a thread that was around a few days ago.

Militarist Fallen Empire :
Endless war : Stuck in an unending conflict between different factions of the empire since centuries. Will eventually unite against a big threat, either the player or a end-game crisis. Factions of the empire will eventually racket a minor species for energy credits or minerals to finance the war effort (That's how this empire is "triggered". Notice that it is random but influenced by your empire's wealth).
Honorable warriors : Wait for the day an empire as mighty as theirs will rise up and fight them in an epic battle. Triggered if you become "worthy" aka create a fleet as huge as theirs. Sometimes "test" you just to see if you have a chance of becoming worthy.

Individualist Fallen Empire :
Counterproductive democracy : Stuck in a decadent democratic system. It's like, they want to do something, but then the senate disagrees with it, then they have to pass a new law, then a new senate is elected, then they forget what they wanted to do in the first place. Triggered if you do un-individualist things, like enslave people or be an autocracy. Always help rebel factions.
Greedy mercantilists : Rich and decadent as fuck. A single of their citizen is more wealthy than the richest of your oligarchs. Wants to do trade deals with other species. Sometimes they ask you for weird stuff, like a handful of your citizens as slaves for their golden palaces. You don't really want it, but they can pay you so well... and they might be really, really angry if you don't give them what they want.

Collectivist Fallen Empire :
Long-term builders : Obsessed by the construction of an enormous ship/building/statue/thing. You don't really know what they're doing, but it's huge and they've been busy doing it for centuries. They need a lot of rare ressources for this thing. If you appear to be in possession of said rare materials, they might decide that you're not really worthy of this thing and take it away from you.
Perfect society : Confident that their society is perfect and cannot be updated. Brag about it constantly. Triggered if you decide to change your base society to an "advanced" society, because they don't want any rivalry.

Has paradox ever discussed how fallen empires react to the end game crisis?

I was wondering that myself. Maybe they trigger (depending on the crisis and what FE type they are) a response from a fallen empire. Could either assist the other empires, or who knows - even to weigh in on the other side?
