I went to Colossal Order's website (https://colossalorder.fi/) and I found a job listing for a Platform Support Engineer. The following details are in the listing:

msedge_2023-02-05_21-47-38.png

I remember Cities: Skylines being made in Unity 4 and being updated to Unity 5 shortly before its release. In fact, the Unity version that the game currently uses is 5.6.7, which is the final version of Unity 5. I know nothing about game development or Unity. Maybe, I should've started with that. Anyway, unless the console releases are using some later version of Unity, why would they be requesting knowledge of Unity 2020.3+ when the game uses Unity 5?

And then, there's this:

msedge_2023-02-05_21-50-06.png

DirectX 12. Unless it's an Xbox thing, Cities: Skylines does not use DirectX 12. I remember people thinking that DirectX 12 was a magic bullet when Cities: Skylines came out a few months before the release of Windows 10.

Sorry for creepin' and peepin' on your company's website! I know that I'm more than welcome to apply, but aside from not meeting the position requirements, I have some personal circumstances that currently prevent me from applying to such a job listing.

Colossal Order is working on a new game. It is. Is it time to hop on the Cities: Skylines 3 hype train?

I will leave you with some famous quotes:

"I know not on which platforms Cities: Skylines 3 will be released, but Cities: Skylines 4 will be on sticks and stones!" - Albert Einstein

"Now I am become Poo Dam, the destroyer of cities." - J. Robert Oppenheimer

Edit: I forgot to say that I am very grateful for the game that we currently have. Cities: Skylines and SimCity 4 are the only games that I'm currently into.

They just hireing, they probably always are.

They also dont tease with over hyped well too early in development trailers or give massive let downs on over cooked promises.
When something is 3/4 done, they will tell us, its done when its done.

Unless you like the plauge of unfinished, rushed, broken games that have come out in the last 3 years?
Halo, BF5? Or your online services getting pulled cause the game was "old", or the publisher couldnt be bothered to get a decent contract with a film producer
Cyber punk got fixed, mass effect adromeda lip synq still sux.
GSC game world are forgiven on stalker 2, whats bethestas' excuse?

There was very infrequent and mild graphical glitches on console CSL, fixed within a week, game supported, community supported and updated constantly
Head in sand until announced and knowing them, that will be 3 months notice at the most

Unity 5 is built on DX11. And is free, until you release the game for sale.

The new Unity supports DX12/Vulcan and other tech. It is a paid for program, plus fees charged on sales of released game.

Cities Skylines 3?

What happened to 2?

It is a quote by Albert Einstein of WWII.

"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stone"

I'm aware of the quote, but this board has also taught me that some people are just that thick when it comes to reading comprehension that it's believable someone would think CS3 is coming.

OP has clarified he was making a joke however and I'm a little disappointed he didn't follow it up with a variation on the Peter Griffin 'World War Five' rant.

Well I always say that its not a question of 'if' but 'when'. Of course release could be far off be there could be an annoucement though not soon I guess. We might see the announcement I think say at least 6 to 8 months before release. This I believe gives plenty of time for marketing to hype it up as well as the speculation fun that comes with it.

Cities Skylines 2 will be 8 years old this march, and surely a new project might/should be in the works. Of course nothing is official till its official.

Not necessarily just have a look at Euro truck simulator that game is from 2012 and hasn't really received any successor.

But the ad speaks of Unity 2020.3 support, so unless they decided to rewrite this game all over, it should be a new title.

I hope it isn't just a port of the same game.

OOps, I forgot. ETS has three of them.

ETS1
ETS2
ATS1

Is that new Alaskan Trucker game from them as well?
