I always have a hard time coming up with a name for my species. I was wondering where others get their ideas for species names and perhaps hear some examples from others!

I cycle through it until I get a nice and spooky name. The names always have a sense of Lovecraftian cosmicism (the Universe is greater than your comprehension), which fits perfectly with Stellaris.

You dont have to come up with new names and if you have you can still use a random generator.
But even many of the sci-fy authors use reference names of our human culture. For example names from the greek/roman or egyptian mythology are always welcomed and do contain a large pool of cool and fancy names same goes for celtic, nordic etc etc
