Ok, so we all played Project Augustus, and I'm certain that the majority share a less than positive view on it and have ended up with either a minor or major injury in their hands after playing it. However, the idea of a hype-producing minigame before the release of the game itself isn't a very bad idea. However something that would actually be interesting and cool.

It's been suggested before, but has never met a thread: a simplified version of the Stellaris start-up menu available in the browser. You select the appearance, traits, ethos and government of your empire (etcetera), and getting a result screen with all the combined effects. I'd love something like this and I need more to sate my hype.

I'm boggled. Why do people think there are free folks just sitting around the Paradox office able to do projects like this? For a game out in under 40 days it's simply so little gain for the effort required.

I have no clue of the required assets to create such a Demo, but it would be cool if they'd create something like the amentioned should they have the resources. I doubt it would be more demanding on their manpower than Project Augustus at the current stage.

Project Augustus is some html and javaScript crap(no offense meant to Paradox, but seriously, it stinks on ice) that any comp sci student could whip together in a weekend or two. A demo would require either building it from scratch (if the species/empire creator wasn't somehow modularized), or releasing part of a game before the rest of the game (which, given Paradox's stance on Early Access and the like, I would think this is a non-starter). Regardless, making the species creator into a stand-alone demo is a non-trivial amount of effort. I think we can all agree that non-trivial efforts at this stage in development would be better suited towards bug-hunting, balancing, and other finishing touches.

No reason to waste money on a silly thing like this. Heck, I don;t even know why they bothered with the crappy clicker game. Even if that got slapped together fort 20 bucks it would've been too much.

I don't know anything about the procedure, all I know is that they released a minigame for PR and hype that the community disliked. People seemed more interested in something like this. Or maybe that's just me.
Those colored fonts sure are pretty, if not a bit unnessecary.

The ethos and traits are all known. Go to the stellaris wiki and cobble together your race that way.
That works, by all means. But it doesn't have the same impact as, even a small menu of images and buttons would have.

Agreed, already have done so for 1 race, and am thinking about another. easy enough with the Wiki and the sheet on the link above.

I'm not critiquing the idea, I like the idea. I'm simply pointing out that we've entered a window where things like this are no longer reasonable requests. Instead they shift into increasingly extravagant requests because of the deadline. And I could fully be wrong, they could have a web design staff able to tackle this - I can only draw on my own experience in the game industry.

And yeah, I like the fonts
