Could you ask steam to give us a key that will work on Paradox Interactive website to prove we own the game. I like showing support to your company by proving I have paid for versions of your games.

Also as I posted earlier when I purchased the Privateer Pack from steam I recieved EIC with Director's Cut, Pirates Bay and Privateer in the bundle for the $21.00 or so

I have this same ask like azedalis. I also like to show my support to your company by proving I have paid for versions of your games.

Steam is currently running a special deal on East India Company - 60% off.
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/2342/

The promotion has been over for a while now, and above link no longer works.

I bought EIC during the promotion. I was actually grabbing Torchlight and noticed the EIC deal. I had been keeping an eye on EIC and remembered something about Designer's Cut that seemed to address some of the original misgivings based on reviews. (I'm try to be picky about usability and flow of gameplay.) So I was glad to make a little bundle of my own out of the two games.

I actually forgot to check about getting Designer's Cut through Steam first, and there was no mention of it anywhere, but luckily it turned out I got it automatically. Will have to see about the 2 expansions if I get enough mileage out of the AI and mechanics in the base game. I'm more interested in the strategic map part of the game though, or that's what I bought the game for. I've liked some RTS games too. Should maybe look into modding the auto-resolve of fights less random or something.
