It is one thing to post your opinion but it is another to express your feelings too harshly that you may offend someone. You are better off in this forum to keep your deepest feelings, of dislike or hatred to yourself because others will not tolerate it. Just try and be a little more reserved, that's all. But I think you know that now. Peace.

Can someone give me a rundown on SAS and/or SBS ops? The only one I know about is the one covered in "Patriot Games."![]()

Since SF are closely related to intelligence agencies, the same rule of thumb ought to apply: the less you hear about them, the better they must be.

Actually, when it comes to arctic survival, Denmark might have some of the worlds best trained units for that purpose, as we have the Sirius patrol in north eastern Greenland. Year in and year out they patrol the northern coasts of this large island. In the summertime they do it by boat, but in the wintertime they travel almost 3000 km in small dogsleigh teams during 3-4 months in the complete darkness and cold of this uninhabited area. It's more a reconnaisance [sp?] unit than a spec ops unit - but still it's a military unit with military training and equipment, and I don't think many other military units on this planet could compete with them in arctic survival.Originally posted by Aetius
However when it comes to their training in Artic warfare, the soldiers would not survive very long on their own. [..] I suppose the Swedish, Norweigan, Finnish and Russian special forces are probably better at artic survival than other special forces, if this is particularly practical I don't know though.

I'm not sure where the US special forces "virtually always fail or get a bunch of themselves killed comes from." I'm not much of a millitary expert but I'm pretty sure a movie showing an SAS guy killing 10 marines really proves that "the US special forces are a joke," I'm pretty sure neither the Taliban, AlQuadia, or any one the US has fought with in the last 10 years find the navy seals or delta force, not to mention even the Army Rangers very funny.
