I would like to see this feature as major addition. Player should be given the ability to apoint individuals, each with different perks like bonuses to industry output, immigration, tax and adm efficiency. It would also be nice if the quality of those polititians should reflect things like let's say consciousness, plurality or literacy etc.

This would be by far my most preferred addition to the game. It doesn't need to be a ludicrously deep system, but a measure of differentiation between different leaders and cabinets etc, somewhat akin to the HoI system but perhaps with more dynamism (e.g. national leaders work similarly to generals in VII in that they have randomized attributes (And objectives/ambitions?) rather than preset stuff like "Man of the people") would be truly, truly awesome to see at some point.

If you are completely blockaded, the prices you'll pay will be crippling.

The problem with HoI style cabinets is, Victoria 2 takes place over a longer period of time than HoI, and has much more countries, and potentially existing countries. The number of cabinet ministers that would be needed to cover all potential countries at all times and with all possible governments and ruling parties would just be enormous. And how the heck would you, as a developer, find out (for example) who would be appropriate candidates for foreign minister in a Communist Hyderabad in 1890?

The only way I could see it working would be to let the vast majority of cabinet ministers be random-generated like generals.

I think that's what would be done. There are for example no more historical lists of generals in Victoria 2, as opposed to what there was in the original game. I remember this caused an initial uproar from some people before release, but I don't think many consider it a big deal now.

Edit: If they do that though, they should expand the list of culture names for Canada. It would be sad to see half of the ministers coming from the Petty-Fitzmaurice family :p

Random-generated, and then allow people to rename them once, if they really care about historical accuracy when there is a communist revolutionary in Hyderabad in 1890. Also, lead the revolution of the people yourself! Just add your own name. This would make play-along type games more fun with readers being personified into running the country into the ground.

Both Q1/2012 and "Christmas" were floated by Paradoxians... but there is no official release date yet.

But that's not a problem of the blockade system per se, but rather a problem of the out-of-whack money supply in vanilla.

Something we modders discovered long ago was that, due to the fact that in V2 prices always tend to a specific "base" level when supply equals demand (rather than allow for equilibrium at any price level, like a real market economy does), the functionality of the world economy simply demands that the money supply at any time is about equal to the total amount of production in the world. If there's less than that, you end up with loads of production going to the landfill because there's too little money in circulation for everything to be paid for and sold. If there's more than that, you get the infinite money situation where money doesn't count for anything since every other buyer also has infinite money, and buying order solely determines who gets the stuff.

If the money supply stays at the real level of production, you can always buy stuff for your money, and the redundancy of money never happens. And blockades will matter ;)
