to History_Buff:
The fate of Turkey and its former lands will be discussed in one of the coming updates. And you're right about Skucas. :D

to Providence:
Yes, there will be a new ship, thanks for waiting with us!

to Asalto and theoracle:
Exactly - in this situation, National France joined the Catholic League and fully submitted to them, i.e., Xavier became Head of State of France and Nat.France became a puppet of Spain. Sounds a little weird, but we'll work with it.

to Enewald:
Because that would be teeeeerribly gamey and would deprive Popeliucka of his duty to be the voice of humanism and guilt in this AAR.

to Karaiskandar:
France is going to enjoy a European future, even though she'll be divided like some other country, only to be reunited in far future due to some people being persistent and the others suddenly becoming submissive. :D

to gooy:
Indeed!

to Kaiser Muffin:
Eeh, thanks, your graphics are, as usual, greatly unexpected. :D

Next update tomorrow, I'm afraid, lots of things to do in something called real life. Very sorry for that, please vote for us with Mr. Popeliucka while there's still time! :D

Meanwhile, in the World update

Other fronts of World War Two, February 1, 1943: Americas and Asia.

screensave10n.png

The Far Eastern front, known for its massive yet, fruitless battles, started moving in January, when German and Chinese forces penetrated Bengali lines and captured Bangkok, capital of Syndicalist Siam. Mitteleuropean offensive in the region was soon stopped with superior Bengali reinforcements. A German plan to use Marines in the region was cancelled when it became clear that France would fall any time soon and Britain was the next target.

screensave7.png

South America was quickly succumbing to the Syndicalist menace - Venezuela fell to Brazilian armies, Colombia to become next in the line. The Northern Americans, CSA, have launched an attack on Mexico and sieged Mexico City.

screensave6.png

Meanwhile, in North America, Combined Syndicates were winning one battle after another, steamrolling the corrupt Pacific States and their pathetic army as well as advancing into Canada over a large front. Ottawa, Winnipeg and Halifax were captured by the Reds. A wide propaganda campaign aimed at Canadian lower classes turned out to be highly effective as hundreds of men took up arms against the British refuges and Loyalist troops, ruining Canadian supply lines and assisting Syndicalist scouts. The tale of Entente, once a European alliance, later a loose coalition of American conservatives, was finally told.

ushispanics.png

Hispanic Americans training among CSA troops in Detroit. Even though CSA and the South American Libertadores didn't share a land border, during the pre-war years they've managed to construct a system of communications and mutual assistance, as well as several combined research programs. CSA also exported a large amount of WW1-weaponry to South American Red Armies and guerilla groups.

Methinks you should invade Britain as soon as possible. If the Entente collapses, The CSA will bring its considerable weight to bear in Europe and you could be in big trouble if that happens

How did CSA invade Mexico? Aren't they all Syndicalists? Well, no matter at all. In my games, Mexico never joins Internationale. CSA builds Socialist States of North America anyway.

France is gone, but Red Anglo-Latin-American alliance stays. I hope Lithuania can survive this. Mitteleuropa is now fighting powerful mix of USA, Canada and Mexico.

to History_Buff and Enewald:
That's what I'm working on at the moment. Britain is full of British and now also French troops, no undefended beaches available. :D

to KaiserMuffin:
I love the Red Cossacks picture from the same parade you took this one. Cossacks with their sabres, dressed in black and red just scream "Red Alert", even though it was 50 years before the game.

to Kaiser Mobius:
An inter-continental landing operation? That's epic.

to Karaiskandar and Asalto:
Mexico was a Paternalist dictatorship and joined the Entente once it was clear that the Reds are going to win the American Civil War. The Mexican Army, prehistorically armed, but great in numbers (60 divisions or so) captured Texas but was thrown back by the CSA reinforcements, freed after Pacific States were annexed. It seems like the war is becoming continent vs. continent, but one must not forget about Bengal and Siam, who posess large and modern armies.

Hopefully, another update will be later tonight. :D

Proof that all men in uniform look the same. Those are US (CSA) troops.

Well a huge battle against the reds is coming to you. Probably you will have to invade the Americas with a huge force cause the CSA is really powerful when thye have won the civil war.

Terribly sorry for not informing you of that little hiatus, but I travelled to Berlin, Kaiserreich and forgot my laptop at home. As soon as I unpack my luggage and overcome the jet lag, there shall be another update. :D

How foolish of you to be abandoning the most beautiful city in Europe (ok, 2nd best, after Krakow :p) for something like Berlin...

But glad to have you back! :D Now, get on with the writing, I'm hungry for some updates!

February 22, 1943
Brest, Commune of France

- I don't understand why you are refusing to take part in the conference, General, as well as why you decided to drag me away too... - Skucas complained, while steering the car.

General Popeliucka was staring at the sea to his right - naked trees hardly hiding the dark blue water. He was trying to cocoon himself with a long scarf he wore over the trenchcoat.

- Because the war isn't over, Skucas.
- I know it isn't! Everyone knows! But now that France fell and Sicily is overrun by Papists, the Internationale is shattered! Britain won't manage to survive long without American supplies, which will be intercepted by German ships and U-Boots. America is in another hemisphere, it's miles away from Lithuania! Same thing about Bengal...there's a lot to cheer about!
- France fell, but not the French, who will still keep fighting - Popeliucka objected - in addition, Makhno and dozens of other French big fish have escaped. Those who are to sign the unconditional surrender in a few days don't even have the legal capacity to do that in the name of former Commune.

screensave6.png

The last large battle of the French Campaign was the Battle of Brest, which went on for a whole week - February 7-15th. It was the largest battle of the war so far, with 68 Mitteleuropean divisions against 49 Syndicalist ones. Air supremacy and lack of supplies on the Red side eventually turned the tide into German favour, the bloody slaughter ended and the French had no other choice but to surrender. The cradle of revolution and Syndicalism fell.

- Fine, fine, you refuse to celebrate, I understand, but where the hell do you want me to drive, then?
- Up hill and down dale. Stop once you see some observation point, or at least a cliff. I want to see the water clearly, those trees are too depressing. They remind me of...
- The dead? - interrupted Skucas.
- Yes, the dead. The countless men who had to die for this silly Brest.
- They didn't die for no purpose, if it's of any consolation...
- No, they died for a single purpose of us proving a point to them.
- Form of government is a big point, you know. Look, you really want me to drive you to a place where you could jump off in style and crush your body against the rocks? - snarled the younger General, looking at the monotonous road in front of him.
Popeliucka grabbed Skucas on the elbow suddenly; the car jerked aside.

- What the hell are you doing?! You're mad, Popeliucka!
- Even if so, it is your duty to help me heal. There's a cliff, pull over.

The car stopped. Popeliucka came out, breathing deep with cold, wintry air, to be followed by Skucas, still shaking with anger.

80939075.jpg

German positions after a violent French counter-attack on February 9th, which slowed down the Mitteleuropean assault. Battle of Brest was quick, yet bloody - the Reds lost 300,000 men dead and wounded, while Mitteleuropeans about 200,000. Lithuanian contingent alone suffered casualties of 54,000 men. Lithuania sacrificed total of 103,000 to Mitteleuropean breakthrough in France (every third man!), a fact which would be brought up again and again during the peace negotiations. While noone counted the losses in Indochina, with Chinese and Bengali having millions of men enlisted, European battles were closely monitored by Red Cross and international press. World War Two was surpassing the First War, although everyone hoped that it would be over sooner than in four years.

- You know, - said Popeliucka after a minute of eyeing the sea - it's almost embarrassing that we're not going to cross the Channel and assault Britain.
- We're not?
- Nope. The Germans are right - our motorised forces will be hard to transport and supply in comparison with German marines or light infantry. No, my friend, we're going to get back to where we began...
- China?
- Almost. Persia, I think.
- But it's mountains, and hills, and other hard terrain... Persia is hell!

Popeliucka motioned for Skucas to look left: down there, on the rocky shore, floated a British patrol boat. It looked like its crew was trying to evacuate the French, but was seen before they could get away: the boat was perforated with gun fire, and corpses of British and French were lying nearby.

- Hell is other people! - said Popeliucka, seeing the disgust on Skucas' face. - By the way, that's a quote of one Frenchman...

Hello again, ParadoxPlaza!
I'm back to Moscow and now that my trips to Helsinki and Berlin are over, I can finally get back to writing my AAR. I have lots of ideas and thoughts on how to keep the AAR interesting, so do not worry, there'll be tons of updates!

ACA Awards are finally over, and even though Lithuania lost, Lithuania cannot forget the people who fought, I mean, voted for her:
