Were one to begin play around 69 or 70 BCE would Spartacus and his revolting slave hordes be a playable force or be represented?

I guess that if you start a game in 69 or 70 BC then Rome will have at least one province occupied by a rebels and they would have a large rebel force to deal with.
Historically speaking Rome did have three large slave rebellions during that era. They were called as the Servile Wars. I suspect that they are going to be represented by very large rebels forces.

Oh, but they still keep up the "start at any date" option. And you can start from the date Spartacus was revoltingly revolting.
Civil war would be a tad more interesting the just roving rebels or bastard barbarians.

The question wasn't whether huge rebel armies would appear in 69-70 BCE, but whether if you started in 69-70 BCE there would be a huge rebel force/civil war/other representation. No historical events is not the same thing as no history files.
At 70 BC the player will be bombarded with popups saying "I'm Spartacus" "No, I'm spartacus." "NO! I'm spartacus!"

If this feature gets missed out of the vanlla release it will be modded in. No doubt about it.

Agreed. Most slaves were field workers and were strong men. I do not think slavery was as bad as modern history makes it in Rome that is. Alot of these slaves were from far away and they melted into Roman culture over time, the main thing the rioters were fighting for were the rights of citizens.

Awesome! Between this and the Omens screenshots I'm getting the sense that Johan and company are letting their sense of humor show in this game.

In that case, is the rebel army in Judea named as the People´s Front of Judea? I guess that will piss off the Judean People´s Front.
