Playing France in the ICG, Spain DOWs shortly after the annexation of Oman in a prolonged BB War. I determine to grab 3 provinces and fighting begins. 4 years later, France controls every non-Portuguese province in Iberia, has defeated countless Spanish armies and sunk several Spanish fleets. I have 12 Spanish provinces under my control and my Polish allies have raised the grand total to 13. Spain has managed to take 2 of my practically defenseless provinces in California, but they still refuse all 3 province offers. Is this some sort of genetic defect with Spain, since every time I've fought them I've had to be content with 1-2 provinces.

Usually what I find happens with 3 province peace offers made by you to whoever you're at war with, they almost always refuse, then what happens(after beating up a few more armies, etc)the enemy offers 3 provinces to you(usually at least 2 of the ones you demanded+1 random one)

Yeah, they kept offering the poorest provinces they had until finally I agreed to take 2 and the treasury. Just 18 months later, Spain followed their Dutch allies into war with me. I crushed Spain quickly, took 2 more provinces, and then barred them French COTs (all 11 of them :D )

It seems to me that it is rare to get a three province peace. I go for the two richest provinces and the treasury or I just go for everything.

Same game, different problem, with Spain and the Netherlands crushed by the 1710s, France seeks a new mission--vassalize all minor neighbors. I've succeeded with Baden and Wurtemberg and have been working on Hannover. Relations are +200 and we have an RM, but Hannover refuses all allaince proposals, is there a rule somewhere stating that an alliance can only have X number of members or that a country can only have X number of vasssals, or is there something else going on here?

I think six countries plus yourself is the limit on alliance size.

How was Hannover relationship with your allies? Countries may like you but nor your allies.

From what I remember you had to have one 'star' more than what you were asking for to be able to demand peace and get if with any regularity.

And since you have to occupy the whole country to get the seventh star that is somewhat uncommon with Spain and all it's colonies ;)
