It has come to my attention that Spain never really properly declines in MP. Indeed it can actually ride the paradox events with ease. I have drawn up some in house rules to deal with problem but I was wondering if anyone had discussed the problem and produced modifications and what sort of scale?

I think reducing all the American mines in the 17th century would help, and is reasonably well-motivated historically. I just need to do something about it.

This chap has played out a number of EU board games with 6 players with a complete AAR. They are worth reading, to get a flavour of the orginal game.

A number of points spring to mind.

1) As mentioned, Spain has almost unlimted wealth in the computer game.
2) French wars of religion in the computer game are not a challenge on the same scale.
3) Spain is played as the Hapsbergs in EU we have a strange situation with 2 seperate players.
