The question is not if the republic or nationalist forces were better or worse during the civil war or if either side would support or ally with either the Axis or the Allies.

For their colonies, I rather doubt they would get any of their former colonies back after an eventual win of the Axis and a siding with it shortly befor the war ends. The Philipines were in the sphere of influence of Japan and I doubt that a Greater German Reich would hamper the relations with Japan and hand over the Philipines to Spain. I can imagine that there would be an extension in northern Africa from what was french territory then, but thats about it. All other lost colonies or territories were too far off or already gone for too long to get a real foothold in any of them.

Hitler would have never, in a million years, allowed Spain to get the Low Countries. He saw them as ethnically German, and, thus, part of the Greater Germanic Reich. If he would have not considered giving them French land over concerns with Vichy France, he certainly wouldn't have given them land that he considered rightfully German.

This is just my suggestion to improve the game. Is it possible for HOI4 to give us the option to be released and not a puppet of any country just like Philippines and other countries?

And other option like make your own custom nation forces? (This will make the game more fun for us) And how about improving the pictures (generals, president etc) for southeast asians and other countries matching our culture formal wear like our president wearing barong something like that rather put a random generic caucassian guy into it. :|

Thanks to HOI4 for improving japan nation with japanese generals etc picture. I hope you guys consider this and improve our countries function (to be playable) which you're not really focusing on but really i hope you would. And so the other national diehard paradox gamers like me can play the game! Hehe that's all folks! i hope the admin and the makers of the game read this! Ty po maraming salamat! Mabuhay! :) *Salute*

Which country are you referring to? This is a thread about Spain, but I'm guessing you are talking about Thailand, or possibly Indonesia?

The Philippines is a puppet of USA, while Indochina, Indonesia and Malaya/Singapore are colonies. Only Thailand is independent in 1936.

Philippines (and other puppet countries) will there be a "custom nation" or countries we can create before we can start the game? :(

There is no custom nation creation during the game. But you could mod your own countries or change the status of existing countries.

About good and bad ones in the Spanish Civil War I will just say there was a rightfull governship and a rebel army which betrayed oaths in favour of the high class and clregy, not capable to accept they were defeated in the previous elections against the Frente Popular. Not all of them true, a very tiny number of officers and the Navy remain loyal to the Republic. Rest is history, but come here to dare say that the republic actions during the war were "bad" is like blame the soviets for being ruthless in order to kick out of their land that force of extermination of "subhumans" the Axis was.

So you tell me about good and bad ones.

On the topic, historically speaking Franco wanted Gibraltar and Morocco. Maybe, Cuba could had being and plausible claim if Spain would had reach the Cold War alongside Germany against USA. Philippines would probably had ended up under Nippon control.

A victorious Republic on the other hand is way different history, to begin with thanks to UK and France ignoring it the only power helping it was the Soviet Union. Therefor is very likely that the Republic would had ended up as a Communist country. Which I think it would had turn out in a Iberian Union (with Basque and Catalan nations treated as such), with Portugal fascist goverment as primary target. Of course, is kinda obvious that at least the allies would had react against such thing right in their backyard. Now who knows what could had happen with a Iberian Union controlled by the Soviet Union when Stalin reached Berlin. Or when Barbarossa started an axis force would probably tried "liberate" Iberia. Kinda funny if you ask me, same situation like when Napoleon invaded Russia.

The only thing Spain wanted after the SCW was heal their wounds (very deep), restoring the "status quo" and avoid at all costs to get into any war. With the famine and misery that existed there was no capacity to undertake a new colonial adventure or restore an old lost glory. With the signing of the Treaty of Paris (1898) the Spanish Colonial Empire definitively ended both internationally and nationally, and we just stay with the just claim of Gibraltar as Spanish sovereign soil. The territories in northern Africa were only a burden and as was demonstrated 10 years after the end of WWII Morocco gained her independence with the condition of the sovereignty of Ceuta and Melilla, two-seater with an enormous strategic importance.

Lol, the Treaty of Utrecht was in 1713. 300!! years ago. Still banging on about it now. Yet the people of Gibraltar have repeatedly made it clear that they don't want to be part of Spain.

In Southern Tyrol the capital Bozen is full of italians (they even elected a fascist mayor every time lol), in case of an independent Tyrol or Southern Tyron back in Austria they would leave because they are just people sent to occupy key offices and to control the zone, they avoid to settle outside the capital in fact.
So people of Gibraltar are more english than the citiziens of London: they are guys sent from the queen to occupy the place, when they aren't enough loyal they get replaced as it already happened to the original citiziens.

Only about 30% of the citizens of Gibraltar are of British descent. 25% are Spanish. 15% Italian, 15% Portuguese and 5% Maltese. Yet they voted 99.6% against discussions about joint sovereignty between UK and Spain.

Over 70% of the population in a recent census recorded their religion as Roman Catholic. The Queen, the head of the Church of England and by law required to be Protestant, has been sending Catholics, and Spanish and Italian ones at that, to live in Gibraltar? What about their language - a form of Spanish?

The Chief Minister of Gibraltar is called Fabian Picardo. He is married to Justine Olivero. He replaced Peter Carruana. The previous leader of his Gibraltar Socialist Labour Party is Joe Bassano. OMG the Queen is sending Spanish, Catholic, Socialists to run Gibraltar!

Less than 10% of the people of Gibraltar describe themselves as British. Over 80% as Gibraltarians. They say that Gibraltar is not Spain's to claim, nor Britain's to give away. It belongs to the citizens of Gibraltar.
